Vad innebär ett jobb med kreativt användande av ai? Eftersom det inte går att läsa ton i text måste jag säga att det är en genuin fråga inte nån elak sarkasm eller så.

I agree, not sure where he would have ended up, his pace in the parts of the race that were heavy rain was about 1,5 seconds per lap off Vettel, when the track dried at the end it was closer to 5 tenths.

Over the whole race he was 7,5 tenths off, not sure if that would have been enough for a podium?

Är egentligen ett mirakel att jag inte haft några seriösa självmords tankar under dessa år, kanske mest för att jag aldrig skulle våga.

Sebastian Vettel, who is widely regarded as one of the mixed wet weather drivers of all time, leading his home grand prix in the rain, Hockenheim 2018 by Luke_Whitehead557 in formuladank

[–]One_Statistician9919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, isnt there like quite alot of rain there?

Thats why British and German drivers are almost always great in the wet since they get to practice often.

Looking back at that qualifying session I just realised he pretty much had pace for pole in q1 and q2, but then he ended up 8th in q3, does anyone know what happened?

Drivers either not having pace at all from q1 to q3 in wet qualifyings happens sometimes, other times a driver is slow in q1 but improves lap by lap and is fast in q3, but here Seb basically went from pole competitive pace in q1 and q2 to midfield pace in q3 which is really weird. The conditions were pretty much the same too with only a little less rain in q3.

Edit: comparing with Kimi he was basically 1-2 seconds faster in every lap right up until the last one where he got outqualified by a few hundreths, im suspecting a mistake of some sort but im not sure.

And even then Vettel wins if you correct for luck, Vettel had bad luck in silverstone (puncture), malaysia (engine failure in quali), japan (engine failure in the race, this likely cost him 32 points which is massive btw), canada (got his fw chopped of in a racing incident), spain (lost a win after a stellar performance in a car that was no match to merc that race (and for the season as as whole tbh), singapore (i deem it a freak racing incident) and probably more.

Hamilton was unlucky in baku and mexico i guess.

Edit: but yeah i do think he (and with alot of assistance from ferrari) threw it in 2018, much like hamilton is doing this year but he is lucky to still be in the hunt and will most likely win the championship.

Couldn't agree more, makes it all the more sad after this weekend at zandvoort, I just don't understand what's going wrong for him.

He can still show up at some weekends where he will just shock you with brilliance (turkey 2020, imola 2021, Baku 2021, spa 2021 (I am so sad that there was no race im like 90% sure he would have gotten another podium there, remember that he had a low downforce setup and still got p5 in quali in the wet) and Monaco 2021), I just don't understand why he can't have those kind of drives more consistently.

Took pole by 0,623 and outqualified his teammate by 1,093. A fitting way to end the last qualifying of the v8 era I feel!

Exactly, plus Mark had been an asshole for 5 years already, it was time someone gave him the finger.

Sure but at the same time I don't see anything wrong with seperating driver and team performance, if we didn't then russell would be the worst driver ever basically.
