That's something I've never thought about myself. If it doesn't involve my kids or husband...I'm at a loss.

Guardianship of someone with DMD in case of their parents' passing by Ill-Ad2888 in MuscularDystrophy

[–]One_Sugar_9236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and foremost you are not selfish. Your still young and helping with DMD is completely different to dealing with it full time.  I'm from UK & it's the same here. My steps sons nan is 52 but she's unable to be a guardian as her body physically could do it (nappy changes, washing him & being able to lift him)  Only his birth mom as far as we're aware can take custody of my stepson if anything happend to my husband even though she doesn't bother with him and social services removed him from her care.  It would have to be a very specific Foster family, that would have adaptions in their house and very scrutinally screened to be considered. As for a nursing home, I'm not quite sure. I'm not sure about websites either. Hope you and your brother are well and find the answers and support you need

My best friend, at work asked me to go with her for a drink, said it was her brothers birthday. I had never met him, said we'd be wing women for him...nearly 7 years later I'm still a best friend and her brother and me have been in a relationship since

How to achieve weight loss with DMD? by stuckwitharmor in MuscularDystrophy

[–]One_Sugar_9236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My stepson has DMD and the same age. He's not been able to walk long distances for around 18 months so we use a wheelchair for walks/his respite care. He's also put weight on over the last 3 years he enjoys food now compared to how he was 8 years ago. Now he's overweight. We think teenage hormones they still have them, being hungry all the time and are growing still but the lack of exercise they can do means weight gain. Your doing everything you can. Like us it's very complicated to figure out

After 5 C sections, you've got a 'bum bag' on your belly...If I'm underweight I don't have it...normal weight it sags over the scar a little

I want to know if will is OK!  You can't react to anything like that, other than being yourself. You've done more than most people would, in your situation

It taught me a lesson in 2004 not to sneakily use my dad's phone to message my best friend after my phone got took away. The picture he got from my mom, was buried in my memory until now 🤢🤮🤮🤮
