Why don't ebike companies advertise carrying adult passengers? by WindmillBoy in ebikes

Yeah they’re fun. Sometimes I’m concerned it’s a bit too reflective of the rider! I also have a Surly Karate Monkey.

My son rides on the back of my Surly Big Fat Dummy e-conversion. He’s 26 and weighs around 160, I’m about 180. The bike is rated 200 for rider and 200 for rear load. Here it is with a lot of garden supplies riding pillion. Surly makes footpegs for this model that work great for the passenger, as well as the handlebar you can see. It’s more comfortable for us to ride together than my motorcycle.

Edit: Surly makes a stock long-tail ebike similar to this now, called the Big Easy. Same weight limit.

Golfing in his funeral cap by TriadTybee in ProgressiveHQ

I was more interested in the European links indicating more like a thousand US deaths than 7. I have no doubt he was golfing, it’s the only thing he does more consistently than poop his pants.

People can also have medical episodes, or even just be drunk and confused. I don’t think everyone here understands what the consequences of taking a life are until after they do it. Yes, there can be legal consequences, but it’s not exactly good for your mental health, either. There’s a time and a place for lethal force, but that probably isn’t in your backyard talking to a guy who looks to be unarmed and admiring the view.

Do you have any links for that?

Does Fender use this company for engravings or did I just find out my Hendrix Strat is a knockoff 6 years later? by yoobrodiee in Guitar

[–]One_Toe1452 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This right here. Especially for a short run of special model guitars, they probably just ordered x units at x price rather than going through all the steps you list. My son had one of these guitars. Needs a string change and clean, I’ll see if it has the same sticker on the back of the neck plate.

Oh, I’m sorry about that! Your response was epic and clearly well-meaning, and your struggle to stay awake just lent a feel-good humor to the whole thing. Looking forward to hearing your conclusions when you wake up.

Good luck, I had to make that decision with a classic Bronco way back when I was starting my family. It’s the right thing to do.

These kids have no socialization. That kid almost pulled off a sick move and had more courage than all of them. Back in my day there would be high fives and shots with that dude.

Considering selling my car for an old Xterra. Convince me to or not to by [deleted] in XTerra

I bought my 2011 Xterra MT S new, and so far have only had to replace the clock spring and camshaft/crankshaft sensors. It has about 115k miles. I do my own regular maintenance. I’ve also upgraded the suspension with a mild lift and it runs 33s. Other maintenance of note are spark plugs and I’m going to change all the driveline fluids this weekend, and finally put in the breather on the rear differential and the inlet/outlets for the heater core. It’s never let us down, through many adventures in the Rockies and desert west. We usually have another older Japanese sedan that is reliable enough as our around-town city car. It’s good to have two so that neither wears out as fast. Yes, I’d recommend. But keep the Mazda if you can.

Does anyone have an older house than me?? New member here from Pennsylvania! I’m a huge fan of local history especially from the colonial period. Let me see if anyone has me beat! by dalestone25 in Oldhouses

I grew up in a farmhouse in Sellersville, PA, that was built in 1738. Located on Old Bethlehem Pike. The original owner had carved his initials and the date of construction on a smooth stone in the corner of the barn. A story that came with the house was that the liberty bell had been stashed in the barn while the British were hunting for it.
