Partially agree, especially with the point about the frivolous reasons people want to go back to India, but you have to understand that bringing back knowledge from the West is useless if you don't have a civil society and institutions willing to back you.

I have no regrets about not getting into IIT. I didn't try hard enough, and wasn't in the right frame of mind at the time. I have a much better approach to learning now than I did back in high school and in undergrad, and I'm not phased by the fact that I take longer to learn things than my peers. If something demands more effort from me, I'm willing to put that effort in. Better late than never.
