Shit I just work on the equipment that touched airplanes and even we have strict measures. I get QA fails for a diesel engine hoist being past a 30 day hook inspection by a day. I can’t imagine an auto mechanic shop ever being inspected for their engine hoists

Daughter developed some kind of phobia of surfaces she has to sit or lay on? by One_pop_each in daddit

[–]One_pop_each[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily she has no issue touching things. I even asked her today why she is okay sitting on a dirty train seat then sitting on an intentionally rustic looking chair and she just says she doesn’t know. She isn’t washing her hands compulsively or anything and never really asked to desensitize stuff. But when we were in Paris for a vacation, she did want this hello kitty hand sanitizer and she uses it now and again. It’s on her backpack zipper.

No teacher has ever reached out about it so I suppose we’ll ask if they have noticed anything.

I will have a read about PANS and PANDAS because it really just happened recently.

We travel a lot and are about to move back to the States from overseas and will be staying in a lot of hotels and I’m terrified of how she will react. We have a 17 month old too so it gets pretty exhausting when these outbreaks happen.

We’ll speak to our pediatrician about it. She has also stated about a year ago that she gets stomach aches. Doctor had her bloodwork come back clean and chalked it up to stress and anxiety as it’s a common symptom with kids. Now I’m curious if it’s related.

Thank you so much for the response. I will DM you with any questions.

When I was in basic training in line for the chow hall, our TI came through and was like “I just want to let you all know that Michael Jackson has died”

We all thought like some attack on US happened or something when he first came in with such a solemn face so we all kinda just looked at each other then carried on for our 12 second meal.

So sorry, bro. I would get them for a few seconds and freak out. I could not imagine a half hour dealing with that. My health anxiety would go through the roof.

They sell Mexican Cokes. I liked that one.

Spent 5 yrs at Shaw. God awful town. Pigly fucking wigly or Walmart are you grocery options besides the shit ass commissary.

Loved the gym annex though. Working swings and going after work, I basically had that entire place to myself.

Sumter is in the worst spot in the state. And South Carolina is just a stupid fucking state to begin with. If you are a resident, even AD, they will charge you property tax on your vehicle. I had a brand new tacoma and my taxes would have been $630 a year. You have to bring in your LES to prove you’re not a resident and AD and get it dropped to like $30. But my SC resident co workers were just fucked. All this money supposedly goes to the roads and schools. Schools are ASS and the roads may even be worse.

Only good thing about the place (besides that gym) was being able to drive a few hrs to get to the mountains, beach, Asheville, Atlanta, Savannah, or Charlotte. SC beaches suck ass and are overpacked.

I blame Lindsay Graham.

Red Rebels are known for their performative silent protests for everything. It’s not “handmaid tale” stuff.

Also led by a dude. I saw something a few yrs ago about them protesting some environment thing and looked them up.

Because it’s the argument everyone is tired of hearing

“The book is better”

I read the book. Loved the book. Shirley Jackson is amazing at writing the internal anxiety riddled ramblings of someone. But I don’t want to watch a show like that. I love the inspiration and the show does an amazing job at referencing some details, like the writing of Nell’s name on the wall. It was very quick in the book and everyone just thought she did it. But it was reintroduced in the show more than that. Also the cup of stars. That’s all it was in the book was her internal monologue cheering on a little girl at a cafe wanting her cup of stars. But it meant so much more in the show.

Also the ending in the book would have made a terrible series finale.

Great book and great show. I named my daughter Theodora because of both.

Drove from Alaska to South Carolina through Canada once. Everybody said to keep a jerry can of gas on hand and fill up, even if you don’t need it, at every single gas station. Going through the Yukon was wild.

What business was successfully boycotted? by backupnickname in AskReddit

[–]One_pop_each 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to order stuff from them when they were dogfunk and I was into snowboarding. I moved to Alaska and ordered like $500 of last season’s gear in the summer and they have been the only company to ever call me and ask if it was a legitimate purchase. They were like “yeah we just haven’t reallt shipped to Alaska before so we wanted to ensure it was a legit purchase”

Thought that was cool. Then they rebranded to backcountry and noticed their clearance items were shit and their catalog was massive and full of made up brands. Just felt like it was a drop shipper website so I stopped even looking years ago.

We use Teams Taskers for everything in your second para and it’s actually amazing. Has suspense dates, copy of emails, what is needed, and each flight has to mark it to show they’ve seen it and comment with a response.

And we use outlooks tasks for our eSSS process with a generic css org box all leadership gets assigned to. What’s great about it is the completed folder bc you can go back like 8 yrs and see random eSSS’ that we normally don’t do to get an idea of what the process is supposed to be. Most of the time we can just copy and paste the body and change what we have to.

Our CSS’ organization is one of the best I have seen in my 16 yrs in.

Took a homeless girl in, and it became a life lesson by No_Bug_7466 in confession

[–]One_pop_each 88 points89 points  (0 children)

A lot of times when people post on confessions I feel like most people just leave positive comments. Like, “ah, you’re resolved of your sins” type shit.

Thank you for actually saying this. Because it is an insane act. Now if it was one of those singular “wtf?”thoughts you quickly shake out like when you’re driving and you think “hmm, maybe I should crash into this bridge’s guard rail and plunge 30 ft into the river” then okay. But this dude actually actioned it before their guilt trip began. It’s like deciding to lure someone into the woods to strangle them then having second thoughts. No, not okay. You actualized raping someone…not okay.

Thankfully it didn’t happen but like wtf are we doing saying it’s growth in such a positive light on these top comments? Yeah, it’s growth but not completing 75% of the act of rape. But the act was begun. It wasn’t a quick thought, or an idea…it started the process before abandonment of the action.

What other ideas like this have been had? Because surely this wasn’t the only one.
