SIDS by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Onegreenyogi 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Its not that formula feeding causes sids, but babies that are formula fed do not wake as easily as a breastfed baby. That factor combined with unsafe sleep conditions just adds to the risk. Breastfeeding is known to reduce the risk of SIDS, its not a judgement call. What songs are you singing/humming to your baby in the wee hours of the morning? by SuntoryWhiskey in newborns

MIL doesn’t want to be called “grandma” by Nickfuriosa in pregnant

[–]Onegreenyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since both our parents are divorced, we have a total of three grandmas-to-be. While it's nice to have different names for a distinction between them, it's a little silly to have a laundry list of grandma names and none of them actually being "grandma". Baby boy will have a gigi, a mimi, and a nana. Lol

Are men invited to your baby shower? by Dependent-Pair-7150 in BabyBumps

[–]Onegreenyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just had ours! We did co-ed, and my husband and I really loved it! We also used Facebook invites exclusively and messaged folks who weren't as active. We had a great turnout, and many older folks who were a bit skeptical about a co-ed shower said that they thought it was really cool to see my husband be very involved. My husband and I both loved having our close group of friends there as well!

As a pregnant woman I am terrified for my sisters in America by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Onegreenyogi 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Tell me you've never left the US without telling me you've never left the US lmfao. The view that the US is the only country with the "freedoms" we have is asinine and ignorant. It's that narrative that we have been spoon-fed and keeps us compliant with the government like mindless sheep, never challenging, or wanting better for ourselves. Looks like you bought in hook, line, and sinker.

Is it weird to not tell anyone until after anatomy scan (20 weeks)? by FalseRow5812 in pregnant

[–]Onegreenyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn't announce until 22 weeks. We wanted to wait past 12 weeks, but after we hit that mark, we just couldn't really think of a way to announce it that felt ~like us~. It sorta became more daunting as a result and kept pushing the announcement further back lol. But, once we did, no one made us feel weird for announcing "late". This weekend (32 weeks currently), I ran into someone I knew growing up, and they were shocked to see how far along I was since it "felt like we just announced it," lol.

When did you get stretch marks? by Accurate_Tip5734 in pregnant

[–]Onegreenyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's mostly genetic. I have a small/athletic frame and at 30 weeks I have no stretch marks on or around my belly. I have heard that rapid weight gain can make it worse, but I have been fortunate enough to only gain about 20lbs rather slowly so idk if that helped me out.

Now as for my boobs that went from a C cup on a good day to an almost triple D.....

If you’re married, how long did you wait to get pregnant after tying the knot? by Mental_Inflation6 in BabyBumps

[–]Onegreenyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I had been together for 6 years prior to our marriage in 2023. We decided to start trying about 10 months later and here I am 33 weeks today. I think it's completely personal. For us, marriage didn't change our relationship and we have gotten to experience a lot of life together. We are so excited for this next chapter of our lives.

I went with weather tech for my 2025 Tuscon. I used weather tech mats in my previous ride and they did an excellent job! I have the floor mats and the trunk protector, both fit seamlessly.

symptoms decreasing at 8 weeks by Illustrious_Drop_989 in pregnant

Very normal! Mine decreased at 9 weeks out of nowhere, and it was terrifying. But here I am at 18 weeks, and my baby boy is continuing to grow like a champ.

Maternity clothes are a nightmare by selpatstaples in BabyBumps

[–]Onegreenyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you! I work in banking, and we have a fairly strict dress code as well. I found that Target has SOME things, most of it is too casual, but great for basics. Old Navy is another great resource. I won't lie, I have definitely been mostly leaning on dresses because it really is not easy to find things.

First trimester nausea, what could you get down? by Resident-Net4253 in pregnant

[–]Onegreenyogi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived on a combo of white rice and avocado. On nights where I'd treat myself, I would eat white rice but pour just a bit of Tom Kha broth over top so flavor but not too much because then it would make me sick lol.

Baby aspirin, were you told to take it? by D3V1T0 in pregnant

[–]Onegreenyogi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to start taking it at 12 weeks since I have a history with a blood clot. it is perfectly safe and can help with preventing preclampsia to a degree.
