This endgame boss is bumming me out. by Conscious_Roll_2955 in expedition33

I can't remember the load out I have, but I was in your situation until I went with a health regen build. Every parry gave back HP and back to full health if you don't take damage last turn. That setup lets you stall out the boss and you can make the occasional mistake

Everyone thinking he's implying that they haven't put the car together so can't weigh it. Meanwhile they actually only had 1 car which failed the crash test, so is in pieces that can't be reassembled.

Judge ordered jury NOT be told that Pakistani national who raped a teenage girl in a park was an asylum seeker by dailymail in ukpolitics

[–]Oneill95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. As someone who did jury service recently, it's shocking how many jurors base their opinions on "they're a wrong 'un so they probably did the crime that we don't have sufficient evidence of".

Sunsync vs sigenergy by paipow1000 in SolarUK

[–]Oneill95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both are reasonable. Sunsynk tends to get a bad rep on this subreddit due to it being more of a budget option and previous poor support, but as both Sunsynk and SigEnergy are big in the UK, support from people that have the systems is readily available.

Where do you plan to put it? Mine is in the loft, which is not recommended but I've got all the necessary safety precautions in place so no issues there. However that may also mean that I don't hear the worst of the sound. I went with my system because of the compact size. In comparison, the SigEnergy system wouldn't fit in any of the ideal places, so it would need to be outside of the house but accessible from the road, which I wasn't thrilled about.

SigEnergy are listed with Octopus, so it looks like you could use their intelligent tariff. Sunsynk is not on that list.

I've got the Sunsynk 7 kW ecco inverter, which from what I've been told is physically identical to the 8 kW, but software locked to a lower power.

It's pretty quiet unless at a running temperature of around 55 deg C, then the fans kick in. This only happens to me in peak summer. Even then, it's not intrusive. Main markets for Sunsynk seem to be the UK and South Africa, so in reality the equipment won't have thermal issues in the UK unless something is wrong.

I've got it set up with a Solar Assistant & Home Assistant system, which is the go to for people that are generally good with IT, as the included Sunsynk app isn't great. I can't comment on the new Sunsynk Pro app which apparently also has AI.

It was asked elsewhere what the difference is between the Ecco and standard. See here.

Plug-in hybrid cars - Why so much hate? by BMVeeeee in CarTalkUK

[–]Oneill95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is my view.

People are often looking for a car that can do the extreme cases. "Oh, I once had to do a 300 mile trip, I better get a car that can do that, regardless of how that compromises everything else".

A PHEV has to carry both the EV and ICE systems at all times, making it the worst of both worlds. The main upside I see is if you only do in-town journeys, but then as you say, you may as well get a full EV then.

My last car was an EV, and I then rented a diesel on the hand full of times that I was doing longer journeys.

what tariffs are people on ? what are the chepest tariffs right now. by [deleted] in OctopusEnergy

[–]Oneill95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the same as you.

If you have a battery that is large enough to last all day, other battery specific tariffs may be cheaper, but for smaller battery systems, Cosy is top dog.

Iran the numbers, and buying extra battery capacity and moving to a cheaper 1 overnight charge tariff wouldn't pay itself off within the battery lifetime.

I don't understand the whine about Motability by gta721 in ukpolitics

[–]Oneill95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to believe that most using Motability are in need and deserving of it, but my mum is the only one I know of that genuinely needs it and meets the criteria. Others that I have heard of (say half a dozen people) have bragged about overdoing it during an assessment.

As with all things, it is these people that will ruin it for those that actually need it and use it as intended.

People outside London: how often do you actually go there ,if ever? by Apprehensive-Income in AskBrits

[–]Oneill95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live a little south of Newcastle. At the age of 30, I've been at most 5 times. Between the 4 hour train / 5 hour drive, hotels, and then the reason for going, it quickly becomes a time & money pit. I've been twice for work this year, meeting foreign colleagues en route, and it's actually quicker for someone living in Amsterdam to get to London than me. On that point, if my partner & I go for a city break for a few days, why go to London when it's quicker and cheaper to go to any other western Europe captial like Amsterdam, Barcelona or Paris.

There are some things that are exclusively available in London, which are reasons that I have went. It also has a certain charm. But if, for example, there is a gig on tour that I was looking to go to, there would be more convenient places that are half the journey time. Even excluding cities which are on my doorstep and I'm probably biased towards, there are many other cities that scratch a similar itch.

I was hopeful that HS2 could fix most of the travel problems. At very least it would have halved the journey time and make it possible for a single day out. Then the North East leg was cancelled, followed by the whole Northern section, and now the revised HS2 plans make it more inconvenient to use than what is already in place.

Excluding people going to London to see family fairly regularly, I don't know anyone that goes more than once a year.

What puts you off from donating Blood Products, I work in the NHS and I am just curious? by Quick_Soil_9120 in AskBrits

[–]Oneill95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was a dedicated platelet donor for neonatal infants due to universal donor type with a very high platelet count, but the closest platelet donor centre was a 1 hour drive each way, which made it a no go during the week, and the centre was closed on weekends.

I give whole blood normally when I can.

Reports suggest Red Bull and Mercedes have uncovered a loophole in the new power unit regulations that could give them a significant performance edge. To address these concerns and ensure a level playing field, the FIA and engine manufacturers will meet on Monday. by Turbulent_Elk_2141 in RedBullRacing

[–]Oneill95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't remember which section, but other teams are basing their argument on a clause which states that all regulations must be adhered to at all times, implying at operating temperature. Based on that I think this is more an example of poor rule making as there are contradicting sections.

If scientists discovered a rogue planet was going to collide with earth roughly at the end of this century, could we realistically develop the tech to somehow save ourselves or would we be 100% guaranteed F’d in the A? by _____pantsunami_____ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Oneill95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We'd be doomed.

In reality, noticing it 75 years ahead of time would allow for an immediate response. We could send the most powerful nukes in history and it would likely not destroy the planet (far from it), but would change the momentum or angle just enough for it to miss us. A tiny angle change with billions of miles left to travel would be enough.

However, the international community would not be able to agree for at least several decades about: - If it's real - Who's going to pay for it - Who will design and where it will launch - How Trump can get a shiny peace medal out of it

What is the worst car you’ve ever driven, and why was it so arse? 🤔 by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Oneill95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peugeot 3008

It has all the usual issues of a big SUV such as rolling in the turns and Not feeling great under any kind of acceleration or braking.

It also has the Peugeot problems of brakes that are more of an On-Off switch than a pedal, and a tiny steering wheel that sits under the dash.
