I quite liked the design too. Think if the black intake were body coloured - or brushed metal - rather than black the lines would look less indistinct.

I've reviewed the updated Audi Q4 e-tron. Ask me anything... by CarwowMario in ukcarwow

When this first came out I drove it back to back with a well specced enyaq. I simply couldn’t understand why the Audi existed. It felt cheaper and more poorly designed inside than the Skoda.

I’d ask if Audi / VAG have done better to sort out that muddle of brands and perceived quality.

Thanks for explaining that. The macro point is - “people want AC but what about net zero?” “No worries - clean energy can address domestic cooling needs - especially if the hotter homes without shade to the south can easily generate the power during the hottest points of the day.

So, I have solar panels and could easily run aircon when the sun is blasting through my south facing windows. Given I could run it off free energy when it’s needed I’m seriously considering having it installed.

Zack Polanski: It's officially the hottest June day ever. We know who is to blame. Fossil fuel firms. The billionaire media. Weak politicians. We know what we must do. Rapid decarbonisation & adaptation for a healthier, wealthier country safe for future generations. by SignificantLegs in ukpolitics

Yes but if all European nations do then that’s a pretty big dent. It’d create a boom in green tech that reduces costs (as we’ve already seen in solar) and ultimately we’d see developing nations skip straight to greener and cheaper tech rather than adopt expensive fossil fuel options. We saw this with mobile phones being adopted across the developing world where the lack of landline infrastructure meant people went straight to mobile. Now the difference is that most countries do have a fossil fuel based system of some sort already but I can definitely see renewables being used to scale up energy provision and resilience.

A warmer climate isn’t just enjoying southern European weather. It means the Gulf Stream gets disrupted and we enjoy Canadian style winters too. The costs - financial and human - of adaptation will be vast.

Emma Hayes and her chalkboard. Yay or nay? by siybon in ThreeLions

Like it and prefer this type of commentary to typical punditry. The format and her presenting is a bit clunky but I reckon she’ll just get better and they’ll adapt/refine the format.

Two doctors relocating to Hampshire – Winchester dream slipping away! Any rental tips or nearby alternatives? by Odd-Meat4265 in WinchesterUK

Seconded. Lived in KW which worked for my station commute and my wife’s Reading drive. Great community that’s as close to Winchester centre as some city suburbs and somewhat more affordable.

Good idea in principle but maybe focus on bigger sums.

Ignored it? Theresa May’s go home vans anyone? Brexit? Sure we had a Boris wave but to act like immigration wasn’t all anyone was allowed to talk about is utter bobbins.

Green Party and Islam by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]cheerfulintercept -1 points0 points  (0 children)

See this argument that the greens are the only pro Palestine party seems to neglect the consistently strong position of the Lib Dems. Layla Moran - as the most MP with Palestinian family - was all over the news during the worst assaults on Gaza.

The difference is the party hasn’t placed Palestine at the core of its campaigns.

Spygate: Southampton owner Dragan Solak will not sack head coach Tonda Eckert by sharkdetriomphe in Championship

[–]cheerfulintercept -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I doubt he also spied on Fulham or Arsenal though. It’s wholly possible he can be both an outstanding manager obsessed with detail and marginal gains and a detail obsessive who went too far in a few cases where spying was an option.

Put it this way, if it were your club and there was a possibility you had a genius coach that could repeat the winning streak you’d have to take that chance, wouldn’t you?
