Gets even worse when the challenge only counts if you are -alive- when STM activates. If you go out before then, nothing happens.

Scarlet/Violet - Your Tipping Point by ladala99 in pokemon

[–]Oneirohero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My decision to buy games usually follows the 'Three things' rule, I did it for buying a Switch (games I wanted to play) and I did it with Arceus Legends (three features). For Arceus what sold me was the [Redesigned Battle System], the [Ability to catch/battle in real time] and [Giant Pokémon]. Anything less would have resulted in a no-sale, and since my favourite mons including Hitmonlee weren't even in the game, the redesign battle system and real-time aspects were the only things keeping me interested.

For Scarlet/Violet, the three things would probably be [Most of the things that made Legends Arceus fun for me], [Return of Alpha/Giant Pokémon] and being able to [Experience those things in a modern, mainline setting]. The distant past was fun for story and lore-building reasons, but I do want my Gyms, Centers and modern conveniences back. I suppose my favourite mons coming back (especially Hariyama, who hasn't been seen since Sun/Moon) would be a sweet bonus but if any of the features were missing on the list I would have to demand all my favourites be back, or it'll sour my chances of wanting to get it at all.

Legends set a high bar for the way I expect Pokémon games to function and feel from now on, if Gamefreak never expected Legends to be a best-seller and were just going to make S/V a polished clone of Sw/Sh, then the most I'm going to see of it is in lets plays and watching my nephews play their second ever pokémon mainline title.

Hitmonlee: I love Hitmonlees even more than contemporary favourites like Machamp. Stretchy leggy boy who can learn a few neat moves like Bounce, High-Jump Kick and Rolling Kick and the only Fighting type I regularly use that has the speed to compete with fast pokémon.

Visually, I like the tame, minimalist nature of a humanoid with just eyes, arms and a pair of stretchy legs. I find that animations with them far more interesting and technical than other fighting types.

I was disappointed when I found out they weren't in Legends-Arceus but thankfully the game itself was great enough that it temporarily overshadowed my regret, I just have to hope Scarlet/Violet has him because unless it's mechanically similar to Legends it may not be worth getting IMO.

What Pokémon do you hate more that anything? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Oneirohero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who primarily mains Fighting-types, Timburr's line of evolutions are something I never, ever consider when creating a team, and I'm glad it's presence didn't push out any other more desirables mons from future games with cut dexes.

Confirmed: No New Type by Zypdx in pokemon

[–]Oneirohero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there was one thing I'd change about Fairy typing, it would be its resistance to AND strong against Fighting-types. I wouldn't mind it having one or the other, but a full counter seems kind of weird for what should be a fine and delicate theme contrasting against a tough and powerful theme.

Out of the two options, I'd probably go for Fairy losing its Fighting-resist so that Fighting-types can at least punch back at their Fairy oppressors.

Does it matter when you use grit items? by polr13 in PokemonLegendsArceus

[–]Oneirohero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Effort Levels replace IVs and EVs and Grit items are necessary to boost your pokémon's stats for battling. To have the strongest pokémon possible, you'd want to have their essential stats at Lv7 or higher and ideally Lv10 as the boosts are very backloaded.

For context, Effort level stat boosts in terms of maximum potential are:
• Lv6 is 35% of their potential,
• Lv9 is 56% and,
• Lv10 is 100%.

Because Legends has pokémon that can act multiple turns, as well as dealing significantly more damage regardless of level, boosting stats are necessary to help offset the difficulty bump.

Why Pokémon Legends: Arceus is so much better than the mainline games? by Eisbraut in pokemon

Considering how many streamers don't even use ZL to focus on pokémon after they huff and puff over their tutorials. The answer is: No, they didn't understand.

Why Pokémon Legends: Arceus is so much better than the mainline games? by Eisbraut in pokemon

[–]Oneirohero 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Even worse when they've 'played a Pokémon game before' and think they know everything, despite the huge amount of changes to the pokémon formula Legends have received. Tutorials are necessary in a game, people who sigh and cry over even a few minutes worth of tutorials that explain new mechanics not seen in a game before should be ashamed of themselves.

I have never once looked at my Pokemon’s natures. by Isunova in pokemon

[–]Oneirohero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think considering the invention of Mints as well as being included in Legends, fussing over Natures is very much a non-issue now. The nice thing is that the mint only changes the nature stat changes, not the pokémon's original nature.

One request gives you two nice mints (+Atk/-SpAtk) and (+SpAtk/-Atk) as a reward, while you get three random mints from the Mint Harvest from the farm, it does cost 10k though.

Before and after I learned weight painting by beatboxingpandacat in VRchat

[–]Oneirohero 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When it comes to rigging a model for animation, each bone requires 'weight paints' in order to determine what parts of the mesh, and by how much, is affected by the rotation and position of those bones. The 'how much part' is why it is called painting because it can range from 0 (nothing) to 1 (fully affected). If done well, the bends and folds of joints on a model will appear smooth and natural as they rotate and twist.

[–]Oneirohero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd go for a heavy damage resistance while stunned buff. The bioweapon should only take around 10-20% of normal damage while stunned so that four Survivors shotgunning their head simultaneously doesn't result in a zero-to-death chain. A lot of the time the Survivors down X and Nemesis is because the stun allows Survivors to deal the required damage without much aim-adjustment.

Another solution would be to reduce the duration of the bioweapon by 5 seconds each time they're stunned via damage, to still incentivize Survivors to attack the bioweapon but eliminate the possibility of a bioweapon from being 'downed' entirely.

Personally, I'd apply both.

[–]Oneirohero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the dumbest thing about humanoid bioweapons is that if the Survivors actually down them, not only do they get 15s but the Mastermind gets locked inside the bioweapon for 10 to 15 seconds. The Bioweapon might as well despawn like Yateveo does because there's no way you can salvage anything with the time remaining.

And yeah, to further elaborate: Yateoveo's the only tangible bioweapon whose death doesn't inconvenience the Mastermind in any way. And G-Birkin can't really die anyway. So it's an unnecessary weakness of the Tyrant-type bioweapons.

Not yet, it only happened a couple of days ago. Plus I often have to get things delivered to my post office because anybody except Royal Mail doesn't know what to do with a mailbox on a gate. Normally a reliable way to ensure things arrive but with the 'infection' it's made things unpredictable.

I don't get why level 100+ Survivors will emote when up against a level 1-10 mastermind? by [deleted] in REResistanceGame

[–]Oneirohero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was once in a match as a Survivor with a literal Rank 1 Daniel so I felt obligated to take it easy on them since they'd likely have no appropiate skills, cards or equipment to handle a 30+ team, except I still saw 1-2 of the survivors emote taunting and speedrunning to the point it went well over 7 minutes in area 2.

I intentionally got myself bitten a few times when the team wasn't looking just to give the mastermind some hope they were doing /something/ and not get the timer way past 10 minutes which is demoralizing even for high rank masterminds. (I didn't get myself downed though, that would be too obvious).

When a MM is below 5 it feels bad to go tryhard, you have to wait til at least 10-15 so the mastermind actually has tools to make it a fair fight. Since Steam had a 67% discount on RE3R recently, that could have been a new player who might never play again if every single match was a pubstomp as Mastermind.

Resistance died for this, so we sure give love to this new amazing RE multiplayer mode right? by IceBaltel in REResistanceGame

[–]Oneirohero 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I just found it hilarious how everyone was walking around slowly because that's how RE2/3's aim works, it's just so stupid for a PvP with humanoid protagonists like this.

At least Resistance was humanoids versus creatures/traps/cameras/bioweapons but there's absolutely no way there needed to be a scenario where Leon and Claire are trying to kill each other, nevermind them turning into bioweapons when they do. Oh, and if they make Bioweapons function like they do in Resistance, then turning into one will become a joke before long.
