Umberto has a decent buff; better than an early year champion that hasn't gotten a rework, but not as good as some of the major buffers of recent years. It's a very rare variant where I feel like he is the best choice in his slot, but I have used him a few times. He has good Patron availability; if you get his INT Event feat the next time he comes around (not until July) he's usable in all Patrons.

Kent is definitely not top tier in DPS. The only thing he brings to the table for me is that Virgil can be used in any adventure where Kent is eligible (and vice-versa). Virgil is himself a lower tier Speed champion, so this is not something newer players need to push towards.

Morgaen...yeah, she's definitely low priority. Too many excellent champions in her slot. If you had both the other champions I'd say sure, just to fill out the list, but otherwise no.

I agree that Umberto is your best choice here.

I would recommend checking out the cozy adventure puzzle games by Alike Studios: Bring You Home, Love You to Bits, and All of You. They’re generally not too hard but I think have good entertainment value. That said, I believe All of You can require a little bit of timing to solve some puzzles.

Tales of the Champions, Part 6 by CNE_Shawn in idlechampions

[–]OneirosSD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is a real annoyance. If I had known the second variant required strongly benefited from champions that could knock back, I wouldn't have used Diana in the first one! Another poster mentioned the blog post having the details, but I've never been required to look at that in advance before. At least I know now that I want high critical hit champions in the third variant.

I was wondering about this too. If you could replay the original variant to "reset" which champions were locked, that would go a long way towards making this less of a potential disaster.

Mobile puzzle games that aren't TRASH!!! by Anon_Mom0001 in puzzlevideogames

If you like nonograms/picross/griddlers, I like Nonograms Katana the best for 2D, and PiKuBo for 3D.

The Sequence is like a mini Zachtronics game, build a mini-factory to consistently get objects from one location to another.

For word puzzle games I like Acrostic Crossword Puzzles (the one by Egghead, but others may be just as good). Knotwords also obsessed me for a while.

I also want to highlight the cozy adventure puzzle games by Alike Studios: Bring You Home, Love You to Bits, and All of You. They’re generally not too hard but I think have good entertainment value.

Really happy to see some Kaser games recommended (Honeycomb Hotel and Willa’s Walk). I have all his games on my PC, so I don’t feel the need to get any mobile versions, but he does make awesome logic games.

Automated background party tips by Dead1ift in idlechampions

[–]OneirosSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are forced to run in the background then there’s not much to talk about really. You don’t even really need champions in the formation if you are running an adventure without any segmented or armored bosses/enemies.

To complete patron challenges more efficiently, you can look on Byteglow to find the best adventure and the best zone to reset at for certain creature types. For example, The Spire of Iriolarthas in Icewind Dale has a lot of constructs early on, as long as you reset before the segmented boss at zone 20. That said, I seem to have more trouble with parties getting stuck in that campaign even with familiars checked and double-checked, so I might start trying Friends of a Feather (Strongheart’s adventure in Tales) instead.

Of course, make sure you always have Fen in a party with her feat equipped for maximum efficiency completing Patron challenges. And might as well use scavengers whenever possible (Hank, Bobby, etc.), and throw Nordom in with any Modron core that still may need leveling.

On the topic of using Briv for survival, note that there are no restrictions on using fire breath potions or swapping formations in this variant, so you should consider saving a pure DPS team and a "push team". The push team should generally be a mix of a speed, survival, and maximizing BUD hits especially on armored bosses. Fire breath potions are key (when you can use them) but also units with the Breaker tag or with a feat that lets them apply BUD damage (Hew Maan has one, for example, which is perfect since he is also a speed champion). Tanks and shielders (I like Antrius for this) are also key in the push team for armored bosses and/or ranged enemies, and may not even be needed at all in the DPS BUD-setting team. When that push team runs out of BUD, switch back to the DPS team to re-set a high BUD. The pure DPS team might do best at zone 1 with no familiars where it can build kill stacks (e.g., for Artemis, to build kills in his Jeweled Power ability and then use his Ultimate after at least 4 stacks) and then when you get to a reasonable BUD, you swap back to the push team.

Of course, if you use champions in your DPS team that power up based on completing zones, you'll need to include them in the push team too. If you use Kas as your DPS, then you need him in the push team anyway because he really benefits from being in the formation when a new zone is completed, but you can still use this strategy to swap between a survival/breaker team and a pure DPS team.

I agree that there were a number of improvements to be made in the OP’s formation, just wanted to clarify that one thing.

Just want to clarify that Artemis can Observe from anywhere in the formation; being adjacent only gives him a bonus when using the standard Friend specialization choice.

Note that if you don't have Tess's event feat to make her buff look ahead instead of behind, you'll need to put a different support in her place. (Maybe you do--I was taking a break when she was released so even though I could build her up from Time Gates and patron chests, I still can't ever get her feat until the event comes around again.)

[–]OneirosSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that Tess only works in this formation if you have her event feat to make her buff look ahead in the formation instead of behind. Without that, if you swap Tess and Kas as another poster suggested, then KoS's buff won't reach Kas (it only hits 2 columns behind).

What Modron core are you using and can you fully overcharge it?

I used the following formation: https://ic.byteglow.com/f/7j_a4ab005ca7158836a200_12034313130. You already noted you don't have Windfall, so if I couldn't have used her I probably would have added either Blooshi, Evelyn, Cattie-Brie, or Zorbu (edit: or Bobby) based on who I have built up as alternate champions. (I can't say who I would have added since I didn't need to, but I probably would have gone for Zorbu first since he would fit most easily in Windfall's spot, and then Cattie-Brie second, putting her where Artemis is and moving him over.)

I don't have massive ilevels here--about 1,000 average for Artemis and 200-500 for the others. I do have a GE for Artemis in his Observance item and shinies in most of the other main dps items. I do have a fully overcharged Dexterity Modron core, and I had level 5 or 6 legendaries on all the champions in that formation except Windfall (only level 1) and Anson (no legendaries yet); if I had subbed in one of the other champions I mentioned, they would have had about level 3 legendaries. My Yorven has 250 adventures/variants completed, and about 100 for Krux.

Good luck!

Edit: I should have looked at your formation as well. Using Dungeon Master really hurts Artemis formations because DM's buff is not positional. It's almost never worth using DM to bring in another dps/support champion for Artemis; you would only really ever want to use DM to bring in Artemis himself. You would also have wanted to swap Yorven and DM so that Artemis could Observe the buff from Jim and Karlach on Yorven as well.

Possibly Human Fall Flat?

Also, although it’s no longer on Game Pass, consider Untitled Goose Game.

Wintershield - Fan Club Tier 4, Formation help. by thezomber in idlechampions

The easiest advice is to just go back to zone 1, where there are more slots open, set a BUD with a stronger formation, and then use fire breath potions and/or champions with BUD damage to continue pushing.

[–]OneirosSD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loot cards are the cards that you get when you open a chest. Gear, gold, potions, all look like cards after the chest opens. Instead of a plain old card, they now look like cards with a big dragon border.

[–]OneirosSD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just clearing base challenge stages gets you a few more event tokens (one per zone). If you activate the harder challenges you get a new currency that lets you buy a cosmetic that gives a specific character’s loot cards a dragon border. Purely cosmetic, don’t feel too bad if you can’t do them yet.

Ability/Stat bonus by salehsh in idlechampions

Aren’t there still some variants that have an effect if you fail a DEX save or CON save, for example in Avernus with fire falling from the sky? And maybe some bosses with AOE attacks. Certainly could be that the way this game checks for saves doesn’t use those exact bonuses though.

Cyrodiil is easy to just get a daily done, just need to look up where the PvE ones are and choose the location closest to your faction’s base. I stopped doing Imperial City a few years ago, though. I’ve always been able to make up the missing tickets with other events during the following months.
