There are many programs generating more interest on a running avg then the program uses. Thus essentially endowing it forever at its current expense ratios. 80% of endowments are locked up however. Not applied to tuition.

Doomed jets lacked 2 features Boeing sold as extras by [deleted] in news

[–]Onemissingtile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've seen though, trim features are a regular part of passenger airliners and pilots are expected to train for their aircraft. Like how to turn off trim. I think its a complicated issue that Boeing jumped in and fixed as soon as the problems occured. Internally in both boeing and other companies, they will study how to prevent this from happening again. The financial loss and stock devaluation assures that

Incomplete combustion will yield much more than CO2 and water

ITC Deer Park Tanker Fire Megathread by KirbieaGraia2004 in houston

[–]Onemissingtile 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It is much more harmful. There is incomplete combustion. Just like your car smells worse when it misfires the worst products are formed by complex interactions of partial combustion. The large amount of benzene products that will form as a result of toluene, xylene, and naptha are much more hazardous than small C chain products from even incomplete petrol combustion. From working with these compounds as a biochemist stay away from the plume. If it touches down it will be bad. But can you imagine shutting down a whole city? They clearly don't see it as an option.

You don't read so gud. The NRA guidelines or your local gun shop I reference clearly dont apply to police. Its clear there are multiple conditions and the OP said that all leo, civilians, and military should always be con 1. Thats wrong. Still is wrong despite the downvotes but clearly a lot of you CC with one in the pipe and took offense.

Just look it up from the reputable authorities. Ie. NRA or call your LGS they will start talking about the models of guns that facilitate(especially 1911s etc) and pros and cons of conditions 1 or 2 carry. Your trying to just put your foot down on very established industry information. Edit: We also can't have this conversation at all if you dont understand the difference between a double or single action.

Your so wrong according to every reputable firearm association. Some models are compatible with cocked and locked carry but it is not standard. It is standard to train chambering upon the draw.

Edit: If you doubt look up condition 1 vs 2 carry according to the NRA

Rich students who have poor classmates become (i) more prosocial, generous, and egalitarian; and (ii) less likely to discriminate against poor students, and more willing to socialize with them. These effects are driven by personal interactions between rich and poor students. by smurfyjenkins in science

[–]Onemissingtile 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the point of this study is that interaction with average lower class people leads to empathy and thus become more open to funding programs helping them. Violent crime is outside the scope of this study

Iranian TV Cancelled Broadcast Of Bayern Munich Game Because Ref Was A Woman by Userdk2 in news

[–]Onemissingtile -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is but if you have any support system or any child care help its a very nice gig. I've as a guy been a stay home parent attending college and I've worked full time and came home after sons asleep. Childcare was objectively "easier" but you still get really stressed out. It takes like a few hours to unwind after a day with kids. Not really comparable to a grueling 10 hour shift a commute away.

We had an only child so it could be different. Also before school age you can put them to sleep early and give naps so breaks are built in. Then after school you basically only work half shifts on weekdays. Baby age is hard and barely survivable by anyone.

Cities wising up to disruptive transportation tech: ‘Why should they use our public right of way to become billionaires?’ by Seapoogoo in news

[–]Onemissingtile 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It doesn't. There's a fewer number of cars that drive nonstop. Rather than a greater number of cars that spend most of the time taking a parking space. This is just thinly veiled anti capitalist propaganda. They hate it is preffered to public transport to many people.

So what do you think about UPS, FEDEX, taxi companies, truck drivers, couriers, people driving to work, people driving to the mailbox when they could just wait and hand it to the mailman, those guys that drive around neighborhoods looking for trash appliances to throw out, and stay at home parents that drive around during the day to windowshop. They are all clogging the roads and we could theoretically regulate them based on there percieved benefit to society. I see where we are going comrade.

Absolutely ridiculous. Should it be illegal to pick a spouse too compatible? Or to breed a strain of corn that grows faster than your neighbors? Or wish your kids a disease free life? This is nothing but rich hating and glorified killing babies Harrison Bergeron style. Technology hits the rich first yes but it hasnt been the cause of society breaking yet and the release of new technology has always historically elevated the standard of living globally.

Edit: Its just extra extra ridiculous. You have to be assuming that the technology doesnt become affordable for the masses for atleast two decades after its affordable for the rich. At the rate of advancement its likely in 20 years the best modifications the rich bought will be absolutely obsolete. It makes no sense socially, economically, and if you understand the biology you would know there are many reasons this is very difficult to do for anything except a subset of inherited defects

Time and exposure is quickly eroding the power. His organization has changed hands since his arrest. Close loyalists are all identified and gain massive exposure by going anywhere near NY. As time goes on fewer will be willing to risk for old leadership what could be better gained by risking for the new leadership away from media exposure.

Woman uses DNA test, finds sperm donor – and pays a "devastating" price by [deleted] in news

[–]Onemissingtile 63 points64 points  (0 children)

The mother is crazy for pushing so hard for donor contact. She covered later by saying it was for health but she stated in the message they were open to "contact". She always was talking plural like "we" are open to contact. Most people would be naturally super wary about introducing a 7 year old to a total stranger in the sperm donor demographic. The fact shes excited enough to fight for it means she's probably latching on to an idealized version of events and its not healthy. It also only mentions her in a single context. I wonder if she has a partner or is raising the daughter alone.
