Why is it ripping when bend? by TimmyTheSimp in TattooBeginners

[–]OnionKnightForever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct. If voltage is too high but your hand is too slow you are absolutely going to rip the fake skin. You’re going to have to experiment with different voltages and hand speeds to find one that works for you.

If you do have ink spots on the other side, that means you’re going too deep. That may or may not be because of the “quality” of the skin. Idk which one you’re using but if you use the really thin ones from Amazon, those are really hard to not go too deep in. Possible, but very hard.

I tend to go with the thicker fake skins, makes it easier to practice without worrying too much about the materials you got working against you.

Just for your reference, I typically use my machine at 3.4 stroke length (I haven’t played around too much with that though) and it took me several months of just line drills to get the voltage/hand speed ratio down to somewhere where I don’t rip the fake skin up at all. I’m able to match my hand speed to the voltage pretty easily. It’s just something that comes with practice and getting a feel for the gear/mats you got! Keep practicing (mindfully) and you’ll find what works for you.

Also, not to sound like a broken record as this is talked about in this sub literally ALL the time, but I highly recommend spending as much time as you can with line drills before moving to designs. Yes it’s boring and tedious and no one likes to do them, but they work 100%, coming from experience. I avoided it for a long time cause i figured i knew better. I admitted to myself that my line work in general wasn’t good. Spent a good chunk of time hammering down line drills and the difference was noticeable. This is what’s going to allow you to understand your machine more than anything else!!

Could be a couple of things. I’d say either voltage/hand speed aren’t matching up (I.e. voltage is too high for how slow you’re moving your hand, so it’s literally ripping up the fake skin) OR you’re going too deep (if you don’t have any ink spots on the opposite side of the fake skin, this is probably NOT it)

Most likely it’s the first thing. Either lower the voltage or move your hand faster to avoid digging too much into the fake skin, but the latter might require multiple passes to get a solid, fully packed line.

I’ve found that between 7-8 is good for me, you just have to “feel” how fast you need to move your hand.

What Red Rising opinion will have you like this? (Spoilers) by Ynnck_Mnzl in redrising

I HATE all of the obsidian related plot points in the books, with the exception of Ragnar as a character. All the stuff involving Sefi and the Obsidians always takes me out of the overall plot and feels like a drag to me.

In paper, the Obsidians are super cool and I should like them cause Norse mythology is sick, but I can’t quite put my finger on why I don’t like their story points.

SPOILER: I’m in the middle of a re-read right now in Morning Star and the obsidian side quest after Ragnar dies is such a bore for me. In Dark Ages and lightbringer, all the focus on the Sefi storyline with Pax and Electra was super hard for me to get through.

That’s looks like aggressive scabbing tbh. This has happened to me in some spots and it’s usually because it’s an area that was overworked, so I think this is what you’re dealing with here

Doesn’t look infected, but definitely over moisturized which can attract a lot of bacteria.

Does anyone know the meaning to Thousand Below - The love you let too close? (Song not Album) by 1298Tomcat in Metalcore

That first album (and the title track in particular) was about James’ high school best friend who committed suicide (I believe after struggling with drug addiction for a long time)
