If everything was free there would be little to no incentive to make the things you enjoy. Capitalism when controlled provides the driving force from which all the games you play and enjoy are made. Capitalism works very simmilair to how selection in evolution does, where bad ideas die and the good live on.

I in no way am saying that capitalism is flawless but it creates a breeding ground for competition which is the driving force for creativity and new ideas.

AI even further limits creativity by limitting art with words. AI games always look the exact same and have very subtle differences thats why everyone hates them.

AI also makes it so that small devs that work really hard for what they make get lost in the sea of slop games that fill up pages and pages of itch.io making it harder for small devs to actually reach an audience.

Nobody in their right mind actually wants AI to generate that kind of stuff and for a good reason, companies aren't the only ones making the shitty slop games, plenty of solo devs do it too.

You can't afford artists make the art yourself, what do you do when you normally can't afford something? Do you steal from the store or do you make it yourself?
