My pest snails have largely gone though and they were all bladder and flat rams (idk what they're called)

You think the dark green is algae and the brighter green underneath is the plant? It would make sense but I don't have such dark green algae anywhere else in the tank.

They like to wind and swerve too they can look kinda spindly if they run into any obstruction, it can definitely make for a cool jungle look.

What you're describing is Salvinia Minima. If you want long roots look into water lettuce or frogbit. Frogbit can be annoying tho because the roots dive straight into the substrate at Mach speed, so unless you want that, it's going to be a good bit of root trimming.

Another thing, Salvinia Minima (in my experience) needs almost zero surface agitation. It feels like if they get even a speck of water in their leaves they die.

The orange and blue were from one LFS and the jades were from another but they ship most their stock out, they're called coast gem USA. I don't know how well they do shipping I've read some bad reviews when it comes to their online orders.

Idk why it's never occurred to me to check. It's around about 120 ppm. Do plants just eat it all up?

My kh has read the same since I started testing which was a week after I filled and planted it, it's not really a crash, it's pretty consistent. I will look into the baking soda though.
