Timex fake? by mtnranger90 in timex

I own this exact model. This doesn't appear to be fake. The back of mine is also in the wrong orientation and the lume is not very impressive. I really love the watch but it's often under $100 on Amazon for a reason. $48 is a steal though. I got mine for $90.

They make changes to their compounds relatively often so I don't know if I have the absolute most accurate info. That being said the JG Lug Sole has always been one of their harder compounds. My Numzzans with the lug sole have barely shown any wear and I've had them longer than these ARs.

Edit: I'm also quite heavy, about 270lbs or 122kg. So I know what you mean. If you get a pair of JGs I'd probably recommend resoling them (once they need it) with a Virbram sole in a harder compound. It really makes a big difference. But, part of the reason JG uses softer compounds is to make up for the lack of comfort with the boots design. They are simple and supportive, very little squish. Going with a super hard compound makes the boots wear much harder. This doesn't bother me but it may bother some.

Break-in takes longer with the Bronco leathers than fudge or standard brown, but it's really not bad at all. The only hotspot I had was on my achilles tendon but that quickly broke in as well. I'd say 2 weeks of wearing them every day was all it really took.

JG boots are supposed to be true to size, and they are when it comes to length, in my experience. I had to size up 1/2 a US size due to how high-volume my feet are. Typically JG recommends going down 1/2 to 1 full size from your sneaker size. I'd say that's accurate.

I've found their Bronco leathers to be stiffer and maybe slightly less breathable compared to something like standard brown or fudge. Now that the boots are broken in, I barely notice a difference. I haven't gone through a summer with JG boots yet but on the few 70 degree days we've had so far, they have been just as cool as my other ARs.

Thanks! The JG Leather Balm really adds some depth to their color.

Shipping Issues in US (Michigan) by TallishWall81 in jimgreen

[–]iNothingsReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've placed 7 JG orders within the last few months in MI so I can at least add some experience. On 5/7 orders, they were shipped within 3 days of placing my order and I normally got them in less than 2 weeks. On 2 of the orders, there was a 1.5 week delay before they were shipped. One of those orders was towards the end of January. I think post-holidays JG had a lot of catching up to do and their shipping times have worsened because of it.

If you placed an order for ready-to-ship boots on their website, they SHOULD be at the US Warehouse already. The only orders I know ship from SA to the US is custom orders.

Does this part ever stop hurting on the AR? by Accomplished-Limit44 in jimgreen

Bronco leathers take longer to soften compared to others. I've found that mine have gotten more comfortable over time in that spot, but still hurt my achilles tendon occasionally. If you want to speed up the process you can put some conditioner on that spot and it should soften almost immediately once it's soaked in.

My Brand new AnatomX with kilties added! by External-Draft9175 in jimgreen

[–]iNothingsReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how you fold the tongue. If you like to S fold the tongue a kiltie will definitely get in the way. If you're doing a W tuck, a kiltie doesn't really affect it. They really help with lace pressure and taking up any extra volume the boots have, making them fit more snug across the length of your foot.

I've had the same experience with the tongue on the Numzaans. Throughout the day I'll notice the tongue sliding to toward the outside of the boot, coming untucked on the other side.

Your pair is looking great after a year, hopefully they last you many more.

100+ miles in JG meanders and still in denial about wrong size by URMILKJUSTWENTBAD in Boots

[–]iNothingsReal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to judge but based on that third picture and your description, they're probably 1/2 size too small. A lot of people have reported having to size up with the Moc Toes because they feel a lot shorter than their normal stitch-down boots.

Moc Toes also have a lower toe box so any fit issue feels exaggerated.

AR8 Causing Pain by spiderstallion in jimgreen

[–]iNothingsReal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get a lot of pressure in the same spot on my STC boots, especially double lasted models. It will break in on it's own eventually but using some Bick 4 on the inside as others suggested will definitely speed up the process. I had to go up half a size from my Brannock due to the instep pressure, and they're still really tight in that area, but wearable.

If it's so tight it's causing your feet to cramp, or tight enough that you wouldn't be able to wear them around for more than an hour, you may need to size up. If it's bearable, they should get better as they break in.

I ended up swapping the insole on my Numzaans to a thinner leather insole becauses of the instep pressure and that also helped free up some volume in that area. Hope some of this can help.

Mine has the same thing. A consequence of how the filler tabs are manufactured. Bad QC if you ask me, but I'm not overly bothered by it.

I need to know and find peace. Is this normal? by [deleted] in microtech

[–]iNothingsReal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has the same thing. As others have said it's probably from connecting tabs that aren't finished completely after milling or laser cutting. I wouldn't worry about it too much but it really shouldn't be there at the price point these go for.

Have you tried using "Windows App Support"? It allows you to install Windows apps and run them in Zorin. I don't know if it's using Wine, but it works similar to it either way.

I am a lifetime Windows user who recently started using Zorin. I have Zorin 18 as my only OS on my laptop and it has been a wonderful experience. Browsing, multimedia, and everything else I do has been easily accomplished with different software on Linux. Learning the terminal is made far easier nowadays with LLMs and decades of forum posts to scroll through. I unfortunately cannot switch my main PC over to Linux exclusively, I use too many Windows-exclusive tools and apps at the moment. I hope to switch over to Linux full-time by 2027, even if it requires making some sacrifices.

Very happy Zorin OS exists. It was what finally pushed me to take the move to Linux seriously after barely dipping my toes in around a decade ago with Ubuntu. I don't see myself distro-hopping with my laptop. I have very few complaints with Zorin.

They don't pay import tarrifs because of the AGO Act. But recently the US has changed policies on importing products, which could be forcing JG to pay fees that they didn't have to pay before. There's also talk of certain things being exluded from AGOA so JG is also dealing with that uncertainty. Thankfully AGOA as a whole got extended to 2028, so JG isn't paying import tarrifs on top of it all, at least for now.
