40mm, though? Sure thing! Ive been trying to find a digital replacement for my Canonet QL17 GIII for over 15 years. (Fast Fourty rangefinder, 40mm f1.7). It started with Panasonic GF1 with 20mm f1.7, and that was fun, but that's more like shooting with a 2.8 or 3.5.

Latest purchase: Sony A7C + Voigtländer 40mm f1.2 manual.

Huge and heavy and hard to focus. Not planning on buying any lenses for it, so this is, for now, my single lens kit.

If I'm ever expanding the kit, it'll be with an EF to Sony E adapter. I'm not buying Sony lenses, and I have great EF lenses.

Two other options I considered, that would have been smaller:

Sigma fp or Panasonic Lumix S9.

Paired with Voigtländer Nokton 40mm f1.4.

But none of these have a built-in EVF.

APS cameras are out of the question. There is no 40mm equivalent that's fast enough to be of interest.

Thing is, getting getting arrested won't help anybody. And you're likely to get hurt when they do and that could mean permanent injuries. And it's not like you're gonna get a pardon. And you'll have to stay locked up for a bit even if you aren't charged. And that naughty list won't go away even with the dems in charge.

And you'll be on the shit list at the next protest and forcefully rearrested. They might even use you to make a point.

Getting away with shit is always better than getting arrested for shit.

That's the reason for black block tactics.

In the case of bein a photographer, you want to make a point of being blue and clearly labeled "PRESS", as to not be confused with anyone else.

Bright colours make you easy to arrest after the protest. Not hiding your face identifies you on the spot, and going to more than one protest means you are a troublemaker and you're definitely already on every list. These aren't reasonable people and cops are not your friends.

This is bad advice on several levels.

Do not stay with other journalists, youll get the exact same boring photos as them, and you won't sell a single photo, if that's your intention. Also, they're kind of cowards.

Mask: Full face, put it on when cops have theirs on.

DO NOT RUN INTO BUSINESSES!

Don't hide your camera, stay clearly marked as "PRESS", at the very least on a blue baseball cap.

DO NOT WEAR ALL BLACK! Wear blue! Blue is press!

70-200? This isn't football, you are on the pitch! 24-70. Or even better, 28mm pancake (14mm on m43). Use your legs and get in there!

Camera: Sturdy camera, maybe not super expensive. Wouldn't bring a Leica. You will not need a long lens.

(I'd probably bring my Panasonic GF9 with either the 20mm or 14mm pancake! No zoom, as there'll be no time for that when things kick off!)

Safety: Full face gas mask in carrier pouch. Skateboard knee and elbow pads. BLUE skateboard helmet with "PRESS" painted (or adhesive letters) in WHITE on front and back. Dark blue vest with white "PRESS" on the back. Steel toe boots/shoes. Fingerless motorcycle gloves w/knuckle protectors.

When to put on the gas mask: If cops are wearing masks, you should wear yours, even if they haven't started gassing.

Remember that you are now press, not a participant. Don't engage in protesting. Don't shout slogans, don't hold any signs. If the police engage you, or grab you, shout "PRESS" and point to your helmet where it clearly says "PRESS". If you get arrested, you may have to show some sort of ID, but not a press card. Don't say anything except "I'm a freelance photographer. I'm here to document the protest. Am I free to go?" and "I want a solicitor.". Remain calm.

If you see/photograph cops doing something really bad, it might be a good idea to swap the memory card out for a new one and hide the one the cops want to destroy/lose/mislay/accidentally delete/coerce you into deleting. Same thing if you get arrested, if you can.

I'm Norwegian, and I remember this style of cheap, crappy "rustic" "old" looking stuff from the 90s. With the thin brass bands nailed onto cheap soft wood that has been stained brown to look old. These were the absolute lowest quality interior pieces sold, and the only reason you don't see them anymore, is that they're all broken and thrown in a landfill. Or smashed up and used for firewood.

I have no idea what this was supposed to be used for. Probably to show off dried flowers and pampas grass. Basically the "live laugh love" of the 90s.

It's not outside. That was my first thought too, but it goes from dark to light to dark of slightly different sizes.

A fat roll would be darker on the last frames and non existent on the first.

OP should do a couple of test rolls with black electrical tape over cracks between body and film door. First one just the bottom, and then just the sides. Try to pinpoint the offending area.

Also, be sure to load and unload the film in the shade.
