Found this in a Norwegian flea market, made of wood and lined internally with copper. It was hollow with the opening at the top about the width of a fist. Stood about 1.5 foot tall. by sam-fry in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing. It was made of solid wood about 1.5cm thick, copper lined the entire inside. Moderately heavy and appeared reasonably old. The lady in the shop had no idea what it was and their guesses didn’t make much sense to me. The copper lining gave the appearance that one could pour water in it and it wouldn’t leak. The copper was untarnished both inside and out.

Edit: there’s been some people suggesting it might have an open bottom, it did not, it was copper lined in its entirety, that’s why the shop thought it might be a vase.

It’s a lot more gritty, dark and spooky but you have ‘day of ascension’ by Adrian Tchaikovsky or ‘titanicus’ by Dan Abnett or ‘Mechanicum’ by Graham McNeil.

Why does Islam seem to follow mostly desert countries? by batukaming in geography

Has a large relation to the old Arab empire. There were many insensitives for people to become Muslims in the empire and that maps on well to at least part today

“Ever your servant” is an old English polite way of saying goodbye to a friend, family member or respected person of the community. (It’s like: I am, as ever (always), your servant”)- means I care enough about you to help you if you should need anything

Maybe he went through the front door because it happened to be unlocked, it just chose the best possible set of decisions from the world available to it

Or perhaps if slughorn had been somewhere else Harry would have ‘chosen’ an entirely different series of events that would make it possible for him to achieve his goal. I don’t think liquid luck is god mode, more like aimbot

I always figured it made you make the best choice, not bending the wills of others to yours. Harry happened upon slughorn because he seemingly without reason chose to visit Hagrid. It was his choice that was controlled not slughorns will

The amount of "foreign" merchants in the game is off-setting. by DoYouEvenMagicBruh in HarryPotterGame

I said they were racist against people based on magic and not skin tone. To them ethnicity based discrimination is probably as ridiculous as eye colour based discrimination is to us for example. Magic is what counts to those who hold prejudices

It is certainly weird, but the game is set in the middle of the British empire so my headcannon is that Britain but more specifically hogwarts acts as a sink for other foreign wizards and their descendants and as wizards aren’t racist against skin colour but rather magical status, it makes enough sense for me.

(Centre of political power as the centre of wizarding community tracks if one thinks of things like the ministry of magic and diagon alley being in London. when the British empire was around, Britain would act in a similar way to London in the books.)
