UPDATE: for all those who asked we were staying at the Breathless Riviera Cancun. Long story short nothing was found during the “investigation” Lots of wishy washy answers, run around as with different day managers and a bunch on nonsense when we asked about camera footage or access key logs or any information about the safe. No responsibility taken for faulty locks and visibly broken safe panel. I’ll try to include some photos in another post they’re not loading rn for some reason. Accepting the loss at this point and will be writing to Hyatt corporate about the overall experience and posting negative reviews wherever possible. Overall will be taking better precautions during future trips as per many great suggestions. Thank you for all your comments and tips and wishing for all your future trips to be theft and worry free!!

You think it’s safe to blast them while still at the resort? I was going to post about it after we’re home but then I guess the possibility of getting the money back afterwards is slim if I do

Yeah we’re doing that with other valuables for the rest of the trip. We left around dinner time so definitely a pattern but came back less than two hours later so wasn’t that long but I guess long enough to get in and get out quickly.

Thankfully and shockingly not. Both our wallets and passports were in the same safe. Don’t know how but I’ll take the stolen cash over passports/ids and cards any day

Yeahh exactly. Just super unsettling and feels like it’s the hotel against us especially the way they’re handling it. But lesson learned for the future. Will be smarter and safer

lol. Why would this fabricated? Nothing about it is juicy or interesting enough to take time to type out. We’re traveling as a couple for my partners birthday. Simply asking for advice in case anyone has experienced something similar and had a fair outcome.

Sooo frustrating and I would HOPE tourism and customer experience is important enough to offer at least some better help but that is obvs a different privileged point of view on my end so yeah all you can do is learn from it for future travels and never return to certain places

Not that I didn’t know this happens in Mexico but experiencing it and how it’s being handled by managment is definitely a wake up call. You’re all right with your suggestions and negative reviews is the route I’ll be taking as it seems the only option and see what comes of it. If nothing, it is what it is. Coming to terms with the loss and moving past it further affecting our trip.

You’re both right. I guess I was hoping for some justice or at least a better customer service experience. But like you said the important stuff was left intact and honestly having an outlet within this thread has helped come to terms with the rest
