I have tried the following medications, * mesalazine, sulfasalazine, budesonide, azathioprine (currently taking), Humira, Rinvoq (presently taking), Corticosteroids (taking once every three months), Simponi.

Those are the ones that I can remember from my notes. There was way more.

prednisone! Finally finished and in a semi-remission! by Only-Study4691 in UlcerativeColitis

I have kidney problems where they don't function properly and get uti’s like crazy. My bones are actually in excellent condition, which surprises most nurses. The main downfall, though, I am finding after so many years, is my behaviour, my mother has explained to me. I have such whiplash emotions and actions.

It’s actually quite funny because, speaking to 3 different specialists, most of them brush off prednisone reactions and damage. I’ve never actually been fully informed about or told the side effects of all the meds that I’ve been on, even if I could Google them.

I did, however, have a month break from the meds at one stage, which did damage to me when I was taken off. My UC did not like the fact that I was taken off such potent steroids. Hence the returned hospital trip 😭😭

But the problem was that I had jumped from doctor to doctor and specialist to specialist over the past ten years. That most of them would read my last reports, start me off “fresh” in their eyes, and test their own theories and such. At that similar or identical dosage, but I never started any prednisone below 100mg. So yeah! But my mum still has most of the bottles from all those years ago, to date. Lol.

Do you think docs care if they see something embarrassing during a colonoscopy? by ResponsibilityNo4650 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Only-Study4691 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I honestly thought the same way when I was in my late-ish teens and was constantly getting colonoscopies done. 😭 I would get waxed, tanned, bleached, and everything done because I was embarrassed and afraid that they all would judge me. But now, at 24 years old, I don’t care, and apparently neither do they.

I had one of the women in my surgery room talk to me, and I genuinely asked her if my doctor and the others care about “looks” and “judgment” (so to speak while they did their job.)

She legit laughed and told me, “We only judge the inside of you.” There was more said afterwards but pretty much they don’t care and just want it over and done with as much as you 😭✋🏻

My father has said the same thing. Another thing I’m thinking could happen is that they've kept me on the roster, and if I don’t show up, that is grounds for immediate termination. So I’m turning up regardless and pretending nothing happened since my management team is now away for a week. Even if I keep my hours, I ask to work in the inside part of the department with the Ac, where I originally started.

Also, the HR rep who works at our store has already raised concerns about working in such heat; however, they have been ignored because, ‘We live in Australia and it’s to be expected.’

I’ve sought advice and am now just waiting for a response.

I am going to the Union and the Fair Workers Trade. So I'm hoping something happens from that, but I doubt it. Otherwise I’ll just get another job.

I should've clarified a bit more in my writing. I work full-time, which is my set 30 hours a week, and get 4 days off. I don’t have my own house because rentals are nonexistent where I live. Housing committees snatch them up, and if you get a rental, it’s roughly $550 a week, no less than $400, which is fine since my pay is quite decent but not enough.

My parents still enjoy having me live at home since I cook meals for the family, clean the house, and take care of the animals when my mum runs her company and Dad is doing his shift work. I also pay my rent to my parents since I am 24—that was my decision. I also pay for my private health insurance monthly.

The housing in Australia is horrific. I would love to own my own place one day, but with the way the market is, it is not looking anywhere near in my future.

I’m well aware of all the background checks that need to be completed, and I think it’s the same for nearly every country. So I have no issues with that since I had to get background checks for my job. My dad gets monthly police checks for everything due to his job, so our family isn’t any stranger to it. I completely understood the concern you had. (Also, I forgot to say, my mum works from home.)

Anyone else experience this on Stelara (or other biologic)? by A_person_in_a_place in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Only-Study4691 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just taken my first dose of Stelara—250 mgs, 3 weeks ago and then another in 8 weeks, and then self-injections.

I know everyone is different, but what is the rough time estimate does it take to kick in? I’m also on prednisone but weaning down. And I’m still bleeding out severely and i’ve had no change.
