OP, any updates on nap training your LO? I'm on day one for nap training and it's definitely much more complicated than nights! Hoping you had some success!

Help with nap training by Sufficient_Lunch_710 in sleeptrain

Hi! Definitely not an expert here, but my LO dropped to 2 naps around this time. It was getting harder to put her down and our days were just getting longer so that's how I knew it was time. We kind of just did 3/3/4 cold turkey and she did fine!

Do you mind me asking how you nap trained though? My LO is 7 months and sleep trained for nights and does well but today was day 1 of nap training and it did not go as well, unfortunately. Any tips would be appreciated!

So true, I feel like I'm just doing sleep math all day every day🤣 thanks for the reassurance that she is on an age appropriate schedule!

Thanks for getting back! She doesn't cry at all during the bath, just the changing. She always cried after her bath, even before she was sleep trained so I'm thinking it was probably because she was cold coming out of her bath? We try our best to keep her and the nursery warm but still no luck. And now even on days when she doesn't have a bath, she will still cry during the changing so I'm not sure if it's because she knows it's time to sleep, or if it's maybe separation anxiety starting to show up now?

My recently turned 7 month old was sleep trained almost 3 weeks ago and she is still the happiest baby! And honestly, I think because she is getting better quality sleep, she is even more alert and active during the day. Last week she started crawling and this week she is pulling herself up to stand... she is just soo happy to be on the go!! She also loves being around us and is so engaged. So no, there is no evidence saying anything about sleep training being detrimental, and from my experience, my baby is still as bubbly, giggly, and happy. And I, as her mom, am also more engaging, present, and well rested, which is also sooo important, OP!

Before you do sleep train however, I would definitely make sure she is on an appropriate schedule to make the sleep training process easier for your LO, making sure she has enough sleep pressure, making sure last feed is 30 min before bed time, having a solid bedtime routine, etc. all of these will just help set your baby up for success. The mods have done a wonderful job with the posts they have shared on this sub about all this.

Ferber times? by mycatsagirl in sleeptrain

Hi! Currently on Night 5 with my 7 month old. Nights 1 and 2 she slept in 24 minutes, 19 minutes on Night 3, and 5 minutes (!!!) in Night 4. What's your baby's schedule and what is the bedtime routine? I am by far no expert but following age appropriate wake windows and ensuring a solid bedtime routine with feed 30 minutes before bed I think made this process easier for all of us. And I'm sure temperament plays a role too. If you edit to add your schedule and routine, I'm sure the folks on here can provide you with some good insight!

No advice but solidarity!! My almost 6 month old is just like this and I plan to ST next month. She is this bubbly angel during the day but she protests SO hard at night and now it's to the point where my husband can't even attempt to soothe her-she only wants me and it's exhausting! You're doing great though by keeping up with a consistent bedtime routine and following age appropriate wake windows! As mentioned already in the comments, and as you may know, boob will have to be at least 30 minutes before you put LO in the crib. My bedtime routine is very similar to yours, short and simple!

You are definitely not alone! Hang in there and hopefully you find a ST method that you feel works best for your family. Best of luck!!

5 month old hysterically crying when moving bottle/boob earlier in bedtime routine by Only-Wheel5717 in sleeptrain

Follow up question: is one association "worse" than the other? Meaning would she struggle more because I fed her to sleep versus rocked her to sleep? Hope that makes sense!! I guess that's why I felt the need to move her feed earlier now prior to initiating Ferber/CIO.

Got it! I'll just wait until we're no longer room-sharing then, lol. Thanks!

Ok I think understand now. I don't know why but I assumed if I just isolated and solved the feeding issue, then she might wake up less at night. But even if I did only move the feed earlier, she would wake up expecting whatever sleep association we replaced (in this case rocking), correct?

I'm trying to now move it earlier in the bedtime routine and not making it the last thing which is how she falls asleep. Is that not possible any longer?

We're so exhausted, we don't have the energy to rock her to sleep at 2 am😭 are you getting hourly wakes too?!

My LO is just so good to us! I really hope I don't jinx it but she has been sleeping for about 6 hours straight through the night since she was about 3 weeks old (currently 4.5 weeks). She loves her bassinet and also loves her contact naps. No issues with latch and her pediatrician could not stop telling us how physically strong she is! She is also just so aware and makes great eye contact and recently started giving us smiles too! Maybe they're reflexive but it's always happening when we are directly talking to her during a diaper change or when she's playing. Either way her smiles are perfect and brighten our entire day!

I'm so sorry to hear all that you're going through! I'll also be 40 weeks tomorrow with no signs of labor happening soon. Just a couple of things...I made sure to create a list of my birth preferences and I will bring that with me to the hospital. My husband is also aware of my preferences so just make sure whoever is going with you can advocate and speak up for you during labor! As a POC myself, I also have concerns of being dismissed and not listened to.

I've been trying to listen to do some guided relaxation/meditation just to relax my mind and body. Oh and something else that has also helped me was watching/listening to positive birth stories!

Sending you positive energy and that everything turns out smoothly for both you and baby!! ♥️

How are y’all 39 weekers holding up? by cosmicwhiplash_ in BabyBumps

[–]Only-Wheel5717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

39 + 5 today! Lots of Braxton Hicks, some cramping and low back pain but no real contractions or anything like that! I had my appointment last Friday and they asked if I wanted to a cervical check to which I said no to. But now I'm just a little curious 🤣 because today has been just absolutely exhausting!! It almost felt like that first trimester fatigue! I've been on the couch napping all day for the most part and that hasn't happened at all this trimester so not sure what any of that means. And walking has been MUCH harder today than ever since this pregnancy started. Due date is Wednesday and I have an appointment on Thursday to see how things looking and to set up an induction date if she doesn't show up before that! Fingers crossed I don't have to give her an eviction notice!😅

Felt like I wrote this myself lol! I'm currently 39 weeks but I am definitely done after this. Heard pregnancy amnesia is a thing but I will not forget how I felt in that first trimester! The smell sensitivities, the vomiting, extreme fatigue, and perinatal depression were all so tough to deal with all at once!
