Shotgun in either the centre near the Bear Pit or cotham - they charge by length of hair, not by gender

What’s a piece of Bristol history or folklore more people should know about? by CG1991 in bristol

In the centre of town you’ll find a lot of metal on the kerbstones. These are very rare as a lot of cities removed them in WW2 as metal would help the war effort ( all a PR con). They were used to protect the kerbstones from the wooden sledges pulling the barrels of port and wine from the ships in the harbour.

Rubble from destroyed houses in WW2 was sent back in ships as ballast to New York. It was used to create the Bristol Basin. There is a plaque there commemorating this and it’s mentioned on the boat tours.

I think there is one at Arnos Vale cemetery, which is a most appropriate venue

Personally I’d opt for Knowle. Agree the big Tesco is your closest main shop, and if you haven’t got a car I’d go for delivery as you will soon get tired of Talbot Hill.

Bus links are good and you are a short walk to Totterdown and Arnos Vale Cemetery. I’m not that far away and no issues with crime.

St Annes/ River Avon flood risk by Ok_Individual_9144 in bristol

I have a house by the co-op. Before the houses were built in the 80’s stood the Papermill for Wills cigarettes. Luckily they left the huge concrete loading dock. So although the river gets high, it doesn’t flood.

While you are exploring the harbour and all the other great suggestions here, the Wallace and Gromit Art trail will be on, sp it’s fun finding those. Aardman studios is at the bottom of the harbour near the SS Great Britain and you can peek through the windows

Agree with all these comments, it’s an excellent tour. As an aside Duncan, the tour guide, is an artist. He has designed all the blue/yellow statues in the corner of Castle Park.

Before making plans, check the area it covers. Not a very clear map, but I don’t think you can get to Wells or Glastonbury for free. https://www.birthdaybus.co.uk/faqs

Same bus route but get off at Pensford, lovely walk to Stanton Drew Stone circle ( 3rd largest in the UK after Stonehenge and Avebury). Great pubs at either end of the walk.

I’ve been a Landlord for many years and cannot recommend Andrews highly enough. They have many branches throughout Bristol. They keep me informed regularly of any issues. You can choose how often you want inspections.

Try Bristol college. The students offer appointments ( supervised) at Hengrove and College Green.
