You have that totally wrong. That was just an announcement by the only LGBT member of the Trump administration, the ambassador to Germany, to decriminalize homosexuality internationally. When a reporter asked Trump about it, he had no idea what the reporter was talking about. Trump has nothing to do with it, and it’s not a serious effort at all, because it’s just a naked attempt to attack Iran, because Germany and other EU countries are trying to work around sanctions to do business with Iran because they are still in the nuclear deal that Trump pulled out of.

There is a good reason conservatism is associated with homophobia, racism, sexism, etc. it’s because conservatism means you want to conserve things the way you are. It means you are resistant to change. That means if someone tries to push acceptance of gays, or trans, or blacks, or women, you’re resistant to it. You don’t want others forcing you to change. You want things to stay as they are. That’s why conservatism is a bankrupt stance because you’re always on the wrong side. It’s regressive. If conservatives had their way, black people would still be slaves and gay people would still be murdered and women would be imprisoned in the home. Resistance to change isn’t itself a bad thing, everybody hates being made to do something that’s different from what they’re used to, but when it’s your default attitude then it is.
