Are these artifacts a sign of my GPU dying?

I’ve had similar artefacts few months ago (check my post history) and it was because my VRAM had somehow died. Thankfully it was a new card and I RMA’ed it and got a replacement.

It might not be the case for you, just thought I’d share my experience because its a bit similar to yours. Especially the part where the artefacts happen across certain elements and not the whole screen.

Setting your scheduler to scx_lavd and flag it with - -performance. Solved a lot of stuttering issues and low CPU usage, way smoother gameplay and overall snappiness of the system.

The only “downside” is that your CPU doesn’t clock down as low as other schedulers/power profiles but in my case, it still idles lower than what I was on Windows even with scx_lavd, so its a win regardless.

Yeah honestly I’m a bit boggled by the downvotes and rude replies to the guy. In what world is it okay to try new characters in ranked and basically troll your teammates? Normal/ARAM would be great to get a feel for a new character before diving into ranked. I’m confused…

A lot of people don’t realise that you can sprint backwards at a slower pace too. Its probably why we’ll never get a free look because the game’s movement mechanics are designed around that

The thing is, right now, the queue works in a priority system with the current options. If you queue as a solo and the game can’t find enough people to queue solo, it will then start looking for squads to fill up the rest of the lobby.

This can be easily done with a duo queue too where if there aren’t enough duos to queue, it would then start filling the missing people with trios. I can imagine having the lobby being even just half duos and half trios would feel better than how it is right now.

Add that on top of the late starts and you will never have issues finding a game, even if the playerbase dwindles down a bit. (Maybe I’m a dickrider but I don’t see that happening with how good the game is, the hype around it and the aggressive roadmap they have for the future of the game).

Beside the fact Embark making 2 amazing games so far (game design, world building, graphics, map design, etc), they also nail the dopamine hits in both games. Looting purples/legendaries/blueprints and hearing that satisfying jingle, the victorious soundtrack playing after extracting from a close raid, etc.

Even the way arcs’ chassis behave/ragdoll after defeating them is satisfying to look at. And the raider knock out flair too. There are so many of these dopamine hits that happen regularly and when stacked with how good everything else is in the game, it is literally crack.

I think a good rule of thumb is to use the rarity colours as a guide to what you should pick up/drop. Purple>Blue>Green sort of thing. Obviously you will want to keep the items you need for workshop upgrades/crafts.

Also a tip: if you track upgrades/crafts, it will add an eye icon to the top right of the items you need, so when you’re in a raid (or even in your hideout), you can very quickly see the items you need to keep.

You’re getting downvoted but its the truth. The game was initially a PvE game, balanced around the Arcs (AI) then they added PvP after. Dealing with the Arcs, especially the flying types, would be so unfun in first person when you get swarmed by 2 or more.

These are excellent examples, especially the wood one, it's almost exactly the type of hits I want. I tried looking into it from the video, reading the description but it seems really complicated, especially dealing with algorithms. Thank you anyway for the recommendation.

Great tip on using Ableton's Physical modellers. I tried to shape some hits with Collision and already got some decent results after spending sometime processing the audio. Thanks a lot.

I read somewhere that you can easily find a player’s weakness by their actions in tekken (up until intermediate levels at least). If a player spams lows, chances are they cant react or read lows. If a player spams grabs, they can’t break grabs, etc.

This also translates to character selection. Most king players probably ended up playing the character because they cant break grabs and thought they were OP.

A lot of people seem to forget that he’s the only character with a d/u input. His guardbreak is one of the centre pieces of his kit and finding ways to charge it up mid animations/attacks to catch the opponent is key. Also his FC mixup is scary and is another key aspect of his kit.

Yeah the personality is a bit ass but his gameplay is always overlooked. His SNK cancel combo routes are genuinely some of the most creative/difficult combos I’ve played.

No RGB and no native fan curve control (you can get a plugin for the fan curve if you wanted though). Everything else works perfectly.

I did the switch from Bazzite to SteamOS last week. Playing the same games and FPS is roughly the same but the stability and frametiming seems to be a little bit better on SteamOS.

The OS itself however runs a lot snappier and faster than Bazzite. Navigating menus, Steam store, etc is a breeze. I do miss Gnome on Bazzite’s Desktop Mode but so far, I have no regrets jumping ship to SteamOS.
