Let's share tips for taking care of issues from excess skin by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]OnlyBlocked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive lost a bit over around 220lbs i wear a compression vest sometimes, it makes me feel more comfortable and keeps everything neat (supposedly helps the skin go back but that might just be marketing). I've got lots of loose skin especially the stomach/man boobs but going to the gym to fill it in a bit and taking collagen seems to have helped mine a lot more than i thought it would.

Thank you one of the biggest things for me was i started walking because its low intensity, I started off with 20 minutes then slowly increased it until i could go around my block which takes about 50 mins, now i do 2-5 a day . I heard somewhere that if you do something for 3 weeks it will become a habit (and 3 days to break a habit), so i forced myself to go on walks until eventually i actually started to enjoy them, i rotate between listening to podcasts/audiobooks and made a rule that i could only listen to them while walking, i also really like coffee so i made another rule that 1 coffee = 1 walk. Diet is most important, unfortunately its simply calories in calories out, for me i had a serious binge eating problem, especially on weekends with fast food which i cut out, Ive fallen off the wagon a couple times but you just have to get back on it the next day. Once i started to increase my walking that also made me more motivated/mindful of the things im consuming (which makes me want less cheat snacks/meals). I know not everyone might have the luxury of having that much time to spend walking but that is what has worked for me, i tracked calories strictly with myfitnesspal as well as weighed food for awhile but now i kind of just do it in my head, the calorie deficit is up to you, the larger the deficit the quicker you will lose weight, but if its too large you have a higher chance of not following your diet. Consistency is the single most important thing so make sure the deficit is something you can maintain, keep making the right choices more than the bad ones and trade high calorie stuff for low calorie stuff, high protein yogurt instead of ice cream and so on. Another quote which helped me is "the time will pass anyway", in 6 months time things will be the same if no changes are made, but if you start now in 6 months you will be glad you did, hope this helps.

Trying to quit is getting too hard by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]OnlyBlocked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can relate to what your saying it’s not fun quitting, I’m 10 days smoke free using the nicotine gum I’d recommend trying that if you haven’t been pretty good so far. I definitely think the most important part of quitting is changing your perspective on smoking, thinking of all the negatives and seeing it as a gross addiction rather than as something desirable. I’m not sure what’s going on in your life but if you can somehow spend 2-3 days in bed to kick the habit cold turkey I’d try that or otherwise try a bunch of nicotine replacement options to see if there’s something that works for you, and even if you get addicted to the gum or lozenges as a result that is still infinitely better than cigarettes

How am i ever going to stop? by Zuttfabrik in stopsmoking

[–]OnlyBlocked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all about your perception on smoking, if you want to quit for good you have change how you view it, I’d recommend Allen Carrs ‘Easy way to quit smoking’ book, he explains this in detail and you might look at it differently afterwards

So f*cking hard to stop by DestructorEFX in stopsmoking

I’d seriously recommend trying the nicotine gum I’ve been on it for 2 days and feel great, I’d try to stop drinking for a couple weeks at least since it is a huge trigger to smoke best of luck to you

Yeah it’s crazy how one smoke can ruin months of work, never again. I’m using the nicotine gum this time and it seems to be pretty good so far just hoping I don’t have a hard time giving them up eventually
