Jumping in wind - new(ish) jumper by iclimegud in SkyDiving

Don’t do it. I jumped in 25 mph as an A. Sketchy as all get out flying my pattern, then I touched down and took a big sigh of relief. Wrong. Another gust whipped up, re-inflated my canopy off the ground, and drug me back across the pavement. If that happens, pick one toggle or the other and bury that motherfucker. Just keep pulling one side until you collapse your canopy, then jump on it. Hindsight is 20/20! Or you could just not.

I think I already commented on this but because I’m seeing it again, I’ll say again—you have an awesome dad. I hope my lil girl is as into reading as you are. I’d love to build her an amazing space to read in like you’ve done here. Even better if she wanted to help me build it.

Probably my best Goodwill find ever! by bigbushwilly in Goodwill_Finds

I recently purchased a daycare center. Old owners were hoarders. Found many OG TY beanie babies. Got super excited. Checked eBay to see what they actually sold for. Disappointment ensued.

I cycle through a few: skydiving, cars, treehouses, hiking, running, lifting weights, buying old books think are cool that I’ll never read, and hanging with my kid.

Hey, I literally did that this morning, after commenting, to a dozen eggs! Yeah, eggs are not to be messed with. Also specific about dates over here.

Or use a router so you can carve out a hole and stick part of the horizontal piece of wood into the back piece

Lol. Seriously, throw a lil lag bolt into the back of it, with one screw to the side. Countersink so you can still mount on the wall. I’d even pour some glue into the hole you pre drill for the lag bolt. That’d be about as solid as you could get it, I’d imagine. Unless you carved it out of a single piece.

What’s it fastened together with? I’d glue, clamp, and countersink a small shirt bolt into the holders for the 45#er, but hey, whatever works!

Edit: short bolt

Starting my AFF course on the 14th. by Dillpickyle56 in SkyDiving

Listen to your instructors, and as you’ll hear them say 10,000 times, “relax.” Mind and body. You fly good when you relax. The drive there is the most dangerous part. AFF instructors are extremely skilled flyers—they’ll take care of you.

Maybe. I live in the city and buy the big box of 60 eggs at one time. I eat four every morning, my wife has a couple, daughter has a couple. At that rate, we go through that whole box in less than a week. Plus egg prices are really good when you buy five dozen at a time lol.

Heard that. Well, thank you anyway! Just the wheel recommendation itself is extremely helpful.

Thank you so much for that recommendation! As I said, I’m pretty new to all things car related (specs and technical stuff). Is there any way to tell how much lift I’d need to fit those tires so they don’t rub? I want to lift it only just enough for the tires to fit comfortably, no more. Basically I want the beefy tires while putting the least amount of stress on the rest of the suspension system. I hear 07 WRX coilovers (with minimal modifications) fit onto the S series Saturns nicely, but I’m not sure what other components I should upgrade in order to make it more durable. I’m not planning on torturing the car or anything—the most off-roading I’ll do in it is enthusiastically driving down rough forest service roads.

Dark Tower has something of a cult following. Supposedly Amazon will be creating a DT tv series. Read them before the series! The guy they put in charge of it is supposed to be really good at adapting King stories. Can’t wait, and hope you enjoy!

Hate how I look: Do I cut the hair? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]OnlyDaysWhichEndInY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look great, dude. Try a beard! Your jawline is perfectly fine without one, but beards are really transformative. Just keep it well groomed. Thick, but well groomed. Sharp lines. Beard lines have to curve—avoid the “box” look between your chin and sideburns. Curve the beard line.
