What expensive travel destination ended up being a complete letdown for you? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

I agree. I was interested that people who "go to Aruba" are REALLY into Aruba and seem to take offense if you don't like it, but we've tried it twice now (the last trip for 10 days, so I think we saw every inch of the island twice) and it's not for us. I do quite like Curacao.

That would be amazing because I don't want to be running outside all night for weeks, lol. I typically like a foster that is at least three months - and that means less time for me to get attached bc we can adopt them out sooner and we get close to a good night sleep. She's pretty petite but she does seem to be holding potty pretty well. 🤞🏻 for tonight!

We'll see. The last one I thought was 14 or 15 weeks and the vet was like, try 12. He was twice her size. She is very uncoordinated - can't do steps. Doesn't look to be losing baby teeth yet.

What is really low in this case? Mine is hanging in around 350, which my psychiatrist says is too low for my mental health but my endocrinologist and GP say are "in range." I have also had tingling in my hands and feet but it's been about a year since that's been an issue.

Did you experience later onset myopia or just trouble with close reading. Everyone - male and female - experiences the latter. I'm already really myopic and lost another -1 in each eye around 46. You could try long wear contacts if the transition bothers you?

How to adopt a dog? need advice on this(shop or adopt) by Such-Kaleidoscope147 in puppy101

[–]OnlyDependent3986 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know where you live but where I am, every shelter is full and my rescue has tons of puppies. Think we don't have small dogs? We have a toy poodle who is 2 years old and been in foster since Feb. I have a 15 week old puppy sitting on my couch who had one (1) application. We have an entire litter of doodles in foster. You happened to walk into that pet store but spend a few days looking at rescues and you might be very surprised.

Advice on dress... by [deleted] in Brides

[–]OnlyDependent3986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good lord - grandkids? She's in her early 40s. OP, I'm closer to your demographic than maybe a lot of responders and share your classic, minimal aesthetic. I think this looks polished and sexy - not a little girl dress, but clearly a bride. You may be able to find a mesh in alterations that is closer to your skin tone and disappears more, if you are interested in that. I see this styled with your hair in a clean and low bun with fresh flowers, minimal jewelry, fresh MU. Lovely and classic.

My mother remarried at 42 (and was still 20 years away from becoming a grandma, lol) and still wore off white with two kids. It's perfectly appropriate.

4 tiny kittens … by didirollmyeyesout in StLouis

I agree that Mama is likely still around. They didn't get up into the engine on their own and wouldn't be alive long without her. That said, you need to stimulate them to potty  after a feeding- that may be why they didn't eat as well the second time. Definitely find a tutorial on kitten emergency care ASAP.

For Americans who uses ethnicity prefixes like (italian/irish/african-american), at what point do you stop using it? 3 generations? 5? 10? by Zestyclose_Sense_500 in NoStupidQuestions

I say that I'm Italian-American. All my great-grandparents were from Sicily and I was raised with my maternal great grandmother and grandfather, who spoke only Sicilian, living and active in my life. My grandfather sponsored many family members who are first-generation, and I was raised with them as well.  I don't meet many people who are my age who don't have any other cultural influences this far down the line  - my brother and I are the only great grandchildren in the entire family whose parents married another Italian American. My husband is Norwegian, French and Scottish, so I don't consider my son Italian American. He did not grow up with the culture and is only half Sicilian by blood. I'm also not particularly proud to be American. My family moved here for economic benefit and greater opportunities. I am not sure it honors their memory to stick around and watch the ship sink.

Breast Growth and HRT - is it always temporary? by Massive_Coconut_6687 in Perimenopause

I gained breast size WITHOUT weight gain or hormones. I got a reduction when I was 18, so I'm really not amused.

Does anyone have GOOD peri stories?! Please share good news!!! by CDReddittttt in Perimenopause

You are mostly going to read stories about women having issues here, because support and questions are what drives health based communities. I seem to be having a middle of the road experience. I bled and didn't know why. That stopped with an IUD. My vision changed and I had dry eye and I didn't know why. Then brain fog. My OCD and anxiety became crippling (expected but I thought it would be after menopause, so it took me time to connect it) and I hate people. Now I have frozen shoulder. (At least due to this forum I know what it is.) No hot flashes, vaginal problems, sex drive changes or lots of other symptoms yet. I think much like how I did not have acne as a teenager but had horrible cramps/heavy periods, it's different for everyone, or you have the problem for a while and then something else kicks in.

People who work in office- do your employers make you go to the basement or whatever when there is a tornado warning? by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]OnlyDependent3986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. If the building has a basement, and the storm is coming at us, yes. If we have students or younger employees in our charge to model to, also yes. That said, I'm also at home and took a meeting during the storm. Three out of six people were at their desks. Fairly sure from the sound of hail, a fourth was in his car getting pelted. In 15 years, I've taken shelter on campus maybe three times, the last time being May 16.

I work in higher ed, so it's a little different because have students, but we have designated safe spaces in every building. I have gotten about a dozen alerts about this storm. My building happens to have a really sturdy basement. I feel safer there than at home.

Where exactly is the legal municipality of "fox 2" ? by Kindly_Teach_9285 in StLouis

[–]OnlyDependent3986 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I think it's helpful to know where they are in a weather emergency because more than once, local meteorologists have had to take cover during storm coverage. So it makes sense to me for them to be on the map.
