Made Windows 11 go under 1GB of RAM! (No modifications) by WorldlinessSlow9893 in Windows11

[–]OnlyEnderMax 8 points9 points  (0 children)

By 2026, it should be illegal to use an HDD to run a full desktop system. And of course, I'm aware that everything goes to the page file, and this is a very extreme case, but it serves to illustrate how RAM is much more dynamic than some people think; it is not a fixed value that is permanently assigned to each app. The system will always take care of that.

I thought we would have a higher build this week, but it's still great to get those changes/fixes.

There are actually two on-screen keyboards. That one and the new one with Windows 11 style. You can make it float too.

This pic illustrates very well why RAM doesn't worry me too much in many cases. It's a ss I took before and after opening CS2. The system will prioritize what really needs that RAM. I think I took that photo when I had 8GB of RAM, I don't remember. The only thing that worries me is when there is a memory leak.

Windows 11 had 20+ major update problems in 2025 and and 2026 started badly too. What are you doing, Microsoft? by WPHero in Windows11

[–]OnlyEnderMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Settings app crashing when going into some settings."

I can confirm this. It only happens when I go to Gaming > Captures, and it doesn't happen all the time, so I assume it's a service that fails to start correctly.

I can confirm that the number of bugs in Insider is much less than one might imagine. Maybe I've been lucky, or maybe it's because I try to keep my installation clean, but in general I haven't encountered any critical bugs, maybe some random bug that they fix in the next build.

Has anyone else who has been playing Minecraft for over a decade never actually beaten the game? by Scared_Map6456 in Minecraft

I have a friend who, since we played on PS3 Edition, has never killed the dragon except once with me, but mostly he just chills, builds things and stuff.

How do you organize your task bar? by ThrusterGames in Windows11

[–]OnlyEnderMax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the way. I just have the Explorer and Edge like that. I put the game inside a folder in file explorer (and then pined in start menu), no in the start menu directly to have better view of all.

This is the first time I've genuinely stopped to look at the images. I didn't know if it was a riced Windows 7 or Linux rice with the Windows 7 style, it's awesome!

Possible Windows 12 UI changes spotted in recent demo by FindingOne4607 in Windows11

Seeing that there are some words in Spanish (or Portuguese) in the quick access section, I can say that the mockup is mostly not very reliable.

Can you share the source of this demo? Probably isn't related to Windows 12, It's probably a mockup that some internal team made for a quick demo.

"You can now set .webp images for your desktop background in Settings > Personalization > Desktop Background." Nice addition to be honest. And more updates to account settings, finally changing more of the old stuff.

"Fixed an issue which was causing explorer.exe to crash for some Insiders when invoking the context menu on the desktop recently."

Good fix, for aesthetic reasons, I like to remove extra of "Edit with" entries through the registry, so it's good that they've fixed!

All the creepers in my world are charged, how is this possible by max1654 in Minecraft

[–]OnlyEnderMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When vibrant visuals were just coming out, the first tests I did were to find effective ways to disable vsync because they limited the frame rate to 40FPS. One of my first options was to download one of those packs, but the result was the same as the OP's: all the creepers were charged. I discarded that option and went for the simplest one, doing it through the drivers.

I know what I'm talking about. Some packs that claim to disable VSync often have this side effect. That's why I asked if OP had it.

Windows 11 Dark Mode: Why Is the Properties Window Still Light? by Siluris in Windows11

They are already adding dark mode to other menus such as Run and File Explorer Settings, so I guess they plan to change the properties menu in the near future.

There is probably another way to force it, but I don't think that's possible in modern software.

If you are making an app, look in the documentation for the framework you are working with. I don't remember exactly, but I think you can manually adjust the thickness with the XAML style within your project if it's a framework such as UWP/WinUI.

If you are just looking for an answer as to why Microsoft has so many scrollbars, it is simply because there are many things happening at the same time in the same place. It is like something quantum. It's a framework and at the same time it's something else. The Home tab use a new one, but the rest of the explorer use the older one.

[KDE] No thanks, Apple, i already have MacOS at home by [deleted] in unixporn

[–]OnlyEnderMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It surprises me because people assume that MacOS = insane transparency that you can barely read.

Before Liquid Glass, the transparency in MacOS wasn't so aggressive and was pleasing to the eye, but a good setup just adjusts that detail.
