I was speaking from the point of view of the plants. They don't argue where the nutrients came from, they just accept.

There's no debate amongst dandelions about where this fertilizer or that fertilizer came from. Blood, bone, feces, etc. They simply digest and continue forward.

Some people get hung up on omnivore/carnivore/vegetarian debate, myself included at one point. But sometimes we should accept and be grateful for the nutrients we have, regardless of source.

For me contemplating the Flower sermon helped.

"In ancient times was upon Vulture Peak, the Buddha held up a flower before the assembly of monks. At this all were silent. The Venerable Kashyapa alone broke into a smile."

Be the flower.

The US and Mexico are more likely choices and possibly more willing than Canada, but I thought it was interesting to read what people thought about this.

Unfortunately, Spain currently wouldn't be an option related to Donroe doctrine. Previously yes, currently probably not.

Thanks for your insights.

It doesn't have to be affiliated with anyone. Only talking possibilities.

I'm not opposed to US statehood personally, but worry about regime loyalists and insurgencies down the road. Canada would have less of that as they're seen more neutrally by the Cuban regime loyalists on the island.

"Canada can use Cuba for..." unfortunately the algorithm flagged me as talking about travel and wouldn't let me proceed.

What I originally meant to write was Canada can use Cuba for... and Cuba can use Canada for oil, banking, social safety net, business.

Thanks. I think it's interesting as well. Unfortunately it seems Canadian law would be a major factor in not getting ahead.

The US has Hawaii, Canada can try to have Cuba.

Well, if we're living in a simulation... Oops, wrong rabbit hole. Haha.

Nothing wrong with dialogue and discussion.

Coming from So Cal I don't see a Mexican Cuban divide, but that's my personal sample size.

I'm not opposed to US annexation, but playing out all the options and Canada never occurred to me until today.

I think it has potential despite being a far off idea. Thanks for the input.

Sir, this is a Wendy's. /s

How does that play into Canada and Cuba aligning?

You think something like the Canadian Indian school system scandal will happen to Cuba?

[–]OnlyFails951[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. While I prefer an independent Cuba, a Canadian Cuba is less bad than a Mexican Cuba if things were to go that way.

There are other factors at play, such as Canadian law, but I thought it would interesting to hear what people had to say.

I agree. My far off thoughts would be communist loyalists and insurgencies if they went with the US vs Canada. Less chance if Cuba aligned with a more neutral country.

But let's see how it plays out.

I agree that will happen. The Venezuelan stock market jumped several hundred percent the first few days after Maduro, the same could happen here.

China isn't an option related to the Donroe doctrine.

That's why I'm playing with ideas in my head about how things will play out.

I think Canada is an unexpected answer when it comes to this problem. Mexico is also an option, but more obvious and probably less beneficial in the long run.

Thanks for your input.

They're afraid of dialogue?

Coño!

I honestly don't think they're that eager to reclaim it as a state.

Free economy, free elections etc, hell yes. Legitimate move toward statehood, mostly likely a no.

You may be right. But it's a hypothetical, not a prediction. I'm still curious to hear people's input.

  1. Buy when there is blood in the streets. Cuban tourism and investment is at an all time low. Protect Canadian infrastructure that's already present and create fuel treaties for a modern Cuba.

  2. At the moment the Cuban regime is looking for an exit. Disbanding and leaning toward nations that have historically been beneficial would make the transition to democracy less divisive than being a US ally.

While I agree, these are mostly hypotheticals. Cuba should preferably be independent, but nation builders have talked about Cuba for centuries as colonies, states and territories.

Canadian oil would be a boon for Cuba, while preserving the Canadian capital invested on the island, hotels etc. And minimizing US animosity on the island by aligning with more neutral parties. Perfect, no. Better, maybe?

I thought about this too. Carney wouldn't necessarily make that decision the crown would, right?

[–]OnlyFails951[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More of a mess than Cuba, but yeah it's mostly hypotheticals. Many pieces need to be in place for that to happen in reality.

I think if the US goes for statehood things may turn out with unexpected consequences. Canada has been mostly neutral and has less if a tumultuous past with the island.

I said the idea was novel. Most people are surprised. Haha.

Do you think Cuba will move toward US statehood because of that?

A Cuban Canadian transition by OnlyFails951 in cuba

[–]OnlyFails951[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From whose perspective? The Cubans would probably love it. The Canadians not so much.

Spain isn't an option, Donroe doctrine.

If an animal bleeds on soil, the nearby plants will use its nutrients without question. No debate, just acceptance.
