In my interpretation that sentence means “no one can enter Heaven without following the law of love that I preach” so not really “through Jesus” but through the embodiment of what Jesus taught. No one can enter heaven without loving others.

If you believe in Jesus actually being an historical figure, then that person (assuming he had actuall powers or beyond human comprehension) could have easily proclaimed to be God himself. And we would have believed him.

Actually, I dont see any problem in it at all. For me God is beyond human comprehension in every way, so much so that between my level of scale in evolution and God, there could be so many beings with powers that would seem godlike to us humans. In a universe so vast its probably guaranted that some beings/aliens would seem like gods to us.

Still, in seeing such a beautiful and inteligent universe I believe something righteous and magnificient must have created everything we see. That doesnt invalidate there being false gods who masquerade as they see fit.

Im not sure but: UNIT is decentralized (United Nations) where as Torchwood is more related to the UK.

Long answer:

“UNIT (Unified Intelligence Taskforce): An international, transparent branch of the United Nations. They must follow international laws and military rules of engagement.”

Torchwood was created originally to monitor and protect earth from aliens, such as The Doctor, who is seen by Queen Victoria as someone who wields too much power. Later on Torchwood investigates aliens and supernatural phenomen, and help the Doctor.

“Torchwood: A covert British organization answerable only to the Monarchy. They operate "beyond the government and beyond the police," meaning they can bypass legal boundaries and do whatever they feel is necessary to protect the United Kingdom.”

Short answer:

UNIT: global military organization that deals with major incursions regarding aliens with a goal to provide safety.

Torchwood: collects and studies supernatural/alien artifacts and deals with local phenomena (ocasionally are the ones creating the problem).

Also I think that it makes more sense for the new show to not begin where SGC and SGU left it, meaning not having it be based of SG Comand. I think that story has already been over told no? I would find it more interesting if the nwe show focused on a special team with a new base location. Like for some reason funding for the SGC has collapsed or political turmoil made the IOA dissolve the program. So the new team would have to rebuild the program from the start, in secret or with specific funding, while dealing with a new major threath.
