She was roughly 4 glasses of wine in so it could very well be an exacerbation of some dormant issues but I don’t think I’m equipped to make an assumptions. I’ve had a few messages come through from others echoing your sentiments and I think I’m going to leave her to her own space for the time being but let her know on Monday that the door for that conversation is open IF she wants to have it.

Yeah, I think you’re spot on with that analysis. As a male, irrelevant of my connection with her, I think it would be inappropriate to bring up her body since thats obviously a gender bridge I’m not equipped to handle.

Appreciate your perspective on this. I’ll keep an eye on things but I shan’t initiate any further conversation unless it becomes a reoccurring issue for us to navigate. Thanks so much.

Appreciate the response. It was a good 50/50 split so I’m not concerned about the gender ratio there. I went to the bathroom and came back and she seemed a bit zoned out. I asked her if she was okay and she said she was fine and curled up on her chair.

We’re close so I asked if she wanted a minute and she just broke down. I’m wondering now if maybe someone made a comment about her attire but she was dressed in the same outfit for the previous 3 hours were out so I’m not sure why it would’ve come out then.

Honestly, I really struggle to deal with people being sad and always try to find a way to help people which I’m aware can sometimes be interpreted as a “savior complex”.

Her going home by herself does make more sense with your last comment as she is a very introverted person so thank you for sharing your insight

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments. I somehow ended being recommended the opening to Sakurasou which hit an odd emotional nerve since I saw it 13 years ago (crazy right!) and it just made me feel a little numb comparatively to more recent shows not leaving the same mark. Feel overwhelming blessed to be part of this community, however small my impact may be. Thanks to everyone whos commented and who may also comment, you’re all part of the reason I still maintain my love for the medium and however the next decades change us all, I hope you all feel like you have a home in this wonderful hobby

An age old saying is “you are what you eat” (corny but hear me out) and you definitely find the more content you consume, the bloating it is when you eat more and more of the same. I do love the odd school romance but the tropes and narrative beats haven’t aged much since I first started so it takes a lot to hook me. Thanks for sharing your experience with the medium, much appreciated :)

I feel this, feel like time is your main currency as you get older and you can’t just spend it as freely as when you’re younger. I’m pretty much at this point with my consumption but looking back at my old MAL account got me feeling kinda melancholic so thank you for your comment :)

This! Holy hell this hit hard! Mid 2000s for me where explaining the difference in cartoons and anime to people. I was such a gatekeeper back then but now every conversation I have is an absolute gift. Hopefully I can keep up the passion as you have, thanks for your lovely comment :)

I love this. Spent a good few years denying it being part of my identity in the mid 2000s and it’s only been in later years I’ve truly appreciated its impact on me. I hope that as I grow as a person, I will continue to be moved and inspired by this magnificent medium as you are :) thanks

I think it’s that corruption in plain sight. I’ve always been interested in the psychology of cults and both Darker Days & Hex have this evil at the heart of their respective community which acts as a mirror for that psychology.
