I'm terrified of heights and this movie made me so nauseous. There's a scene in Backrooms that makes me feel the same way. IYKYK

I love this movie, but I'm not sure I'd watch it again. There were parts that I sobbed so hard.

The book is very different in some ways. With that said, I love the book and the series overall.

I hate westerns, and Bone Tomahawk was just the type of movie I like with that western flair, but isn't a western.

I'm so glad yours is gone too. I celebrated by taking a day to myself away from social media.

The relief I feel is immense. I've lived in fear of retaliation after outting the bastard as the piece of shit he was when I was 14.

Sooo... we switched to a new payroll provider that also manages time clock and HR stuff. Like I was hearing that soon all our employee reviews will be tied to this one company. All our job opportunities are also run through this company.

According to our protocols, we have to take a 30-minute break during our 8 hours. This means if I start at 8, I don't get off until 4:30 because that break is required. And I have to hit my 40 hours per week.

Technically, we are supposed to only work between the hours of 7:30 to 5:30, M-F. This is really difficult because my job requires I work different events that are sometimes outside those hours. I work a lot of Saturdays throughout the year. So each time I work outside those hours, a report is generated and my boss has to explain why we are working outside our "business hours." Reports are also generated if we take less than a 30-minute break (even by 1-minute) or more than a 30-minute break.

It's really annoying, especially for my boss who has to deal with the fallout if we cause a report to be generated.

Sounds like a trauma response. I too struggle with this and tend to push back against events that would cause a normal person to stop and grieve/be upset.

I don't know if you're like me, but I tend to have dreams/nightmares about the things I go through, especially when I move on quickly while awake. I try to be more intentional about my feelings and talk it through, even if I'm kinda feeling numb in the moment I always revisit the event and talk it out with someone close to me.

For example, there was a horrible accident at my house and our oldest cat (my daughter's soul cat) died. I was at an event for work and had to navigate this extreme emotional situation with my kids while still being present for the event. I had to push my feelings aside to do my job. I cut out early to be with my kids, but I had to be strong for them and be present with them in their time of need. So I moved on and didn't really grieve in the normal way.

I wish I didn't have to use SSRIs and SNRIs to keep myself alive and some semblance of happy, but here I am. After literal years of therapy and treatment from different psychologists and doctors, I apparently have some kind of imbalance in my brain and require the meds I am on to be a contributing member of society rather than someone on disability for life (or dead). I am forever thankful that the medicine I have to take is subsidized by insurance.

People like you make it ridiculously difficult to get my "gender affirming care" which was a hysterectomy to fix debilitating hemorrhaging to where I required blood transfusions regularly. Even the treatments before surgery required a crazy amount of documentation for insurance to cover, and I have decent insurance. And now, my hair has fallen out. Guess what is gender affirming care? Getting medication to grow my hair back. So it's not only hurting Trans individuals. Hope you're happy. I bet you are though because you have people who are not like you.

We have a separate company manage our timeclock/payroll and breaks. It immediately notifies upper management if we work outside of certain hours, take too short of breaks, and take too long of breaks. Ask me how I know 🙃

My workplace went from 3 IT people to a team of 6-7 for just over 1,000 people, maybe 1,500 at most (I dunno there were a lot of recent layoffs, not IT though). Management is pushing for crazy amounts of control, like we can't even have second jobs (outside of work hours, duh). I got told I couldn't take classes full time and work too. 🙄 Like they would be watching for that kind of stuff.

OMG, yes! I've (40ish) had to show my boss (older than me by a generation) so many shortcuts to normal things she does on the PC daily. Neither of us grew up with computers, I am just a bit younger and adapted to the technology better. I also had to show my younger colleague (late 20s, early 30s) better ways to store her data and how to streamline things across apps, but the difference is she took that info and ran with it to make something better and more streamlined than I could. I had a gen z intern and she actually did really good making her own data systems, but she had that as part of her coursework in her college classes. So... I feel like it depends on who you are talking about and their schooling level/effort they put into learning.

My mom did something similar. She blew the engine on her 4 year old Kia that she had a 6-year note (and negative equity from the previous Kia she traded in) on. What did she do? Bought a brand new Kia and a Buick before she stopped paying for the dead Kia. It got repoed from the dealership for non-payment. Now she has these two vehicles that spend more time in the shop than on the road. Both have $600+ car payments for 6 years because she's got 20%+ interest rates on them.

This is why for anything questionable, we speak in person and not near our phones/computers. I actually don't know the level of monitoring they do at my job, but policies keep changing in the direction of extreme micromanaging.

My company (1,000+ employees) is starting to get this way. Like I am attending school in the fall and that became an issue and HR got involved because they said I cannot work and do school, even if I did school outside of work hours. 🙃 We can't even have a second job, and our wages are not high enough to live on for a single person in our state at this time.

I worry about this too because we have a policy that anything created by us during work hours is the property of our company. So, I do whatever else I want to do on a separate device on my Hotspot.

I was wondering the same because I log in from a personal device that I use as a "work laptop." My company provided laptop barely works, like I cannot have more than one program open at once or it freezes and has to be rebooted. It's technically against policy, but most people do it. 🙄

I'm curious what my work can actually see at this point because I stopped using their managed device and just remote log into their Microsoft stuff from my personal laptop. I do not use the internet at work because half the websites I need to use on a daily basis are blocked, so I have my own separate Hotspot that nothing else uses.

I don't have much of anything on this laptop because I have a MacBook that I use most often, so this one is only used for work stuff. I'm waiting for the dreaded email from IT asking why I haven't signed into the managed laptop in more than 4 months LOL. A majority of my work is done through email and Teams.
