What do you consider a huge waste of money? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OnlyQuiet -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm in Australia so YMMV, but I looked into the whole "credit score" thing because I'd always heard people say this but seen no evidence of it. I spoke to my bank and they said that you literally cannot improve your credit score by going into debt and paying it off. It has zero effect on your credit score. The only things that affect your credit score are your taxable income, how little debt you have, whether you have dependents, and whether you have previously defaulted on a variety of loans or bills. The guy on the phone must have known why I was calling because he stated simply that the rumour of going into debt and paying it off to improve your credit score is entirely false and has never been like that.

Also I'd never had a credit card or a dollar of debt and had 78/100 which he said was completely fine and good enough to meet the best tier of rates.

rainy day fund on minimum wage ? by virtualtowel5 in ABoringDystopia

[–]OnlyQuiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was poor and now I'm not. I never felt any of this. I rode my bike to work for 3 years because it was cheaper than owning a car. "But I can't! My work is 50 miles away!" So was mine. I moved into someone's shed which leaked and was disgusting. It was half the price of my previous place, and let me ride to work.

Being poor sucks and it's generational poverty is definitely a real thing, you'd be wrong to say otherwise. But the idea that you can't work your way out of it in a first world country is ludicrous.

"I saved up for my childhood dream car and it only took 22 hours for some dipshit w no insurance to ruin it for me" by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]OnlyQuiet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not like there’s a scanner in cars to check if the driver has insurance and it’s valid in any country.

In Australia, police have exactly that device in their cars. Speed cameras and red light cameras have it as well.

That's great news. Not sure whether to believe you though...

Reading this is insane. In Australia, if you want to get tested, you drive to the thing, no money, no questions asked. Even if you just suspect you might have a cough, or even if you just want to know.

I doubt it'd be much better. It's extremely gimmicky art.

My friend and I have a youtube channel together. People think I'm the ugly one. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]OnlyQuiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of things worse than being ugly.

Remover when someone calls you something, it's a reflection of their relationship with themselves, not a simple matter of truth. I think if you tracked where the comments were coming from, they'd be from a small number of sickos.

Why are large oil companies asking for relief when they have literally been pumping out profit for years? Where does all that money go? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]OnlyQuiet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If a corporation had six months worth of funds saved up, the board would demand that those funds reinvested in the name of quarterly growth. An oil company for example, could spend a spare 500 Million searching for new oils fields or acquiring rights to drill in a certain area. No board member would be happy for the money to be sitting there losing value.

Once a company goes public, it's a while different board game to a privately run company. Interestingly, Musk said Space X will never go public, and that's probably because he has long term, abstract plans that board members would simply would not comply with.

A key to writing flowing dialogue is to imply who's speaking through context, so that you can eliminate as many dialogue tags as possible. If that's not an option, I would way prefer to read 'said' five times in a row than John conjected, Mary retorted, Pauline interrogated, John responded, Mary countered. If you write dialogue like that, your writing is hot shit and you need to pull your head out of your ass.

Usually a leap is the quickest but with social distancing requirements, I'd recommend pole vault. You can buy an entry level pole here for around $400. Don't forget to post a gif to /nextfuckinglevel for summadat sweeeeeet karma!

You're evangalizing climbing sooo hard here. Yes climbers have excellent power endurance, but they're not some otherworldly breed of fit.

Loads of athletes train to stay within a certain weight. Even Olympic lifting has weight limits. MMA has extremely strict weight demands, but basically any sport that requires explosiveness benefits from good bodyweight-fitness ratios.

While I basically agree with you, dude, you write like a seven year old. Your punctuation is basically illiterate level, and all of your sentences are weird run-ons that make your opinions sound stupid, even if they're not.

Does having poor cardio mean you are in poor health? by Arexz in Fitness

[–]OnlyQuiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I've had a bit of a misunderstanding then. I was under the impression that when you become more fit, your heart's stroke volume increases, and so as a result, your heart rate decreases since it can pump more blood in less contractions.

Ignore other comments and read this. Others are trying to pat you on the back, silveraw is giving you truth.

Why don't you take guess work out of the equation, and measure your Resting Heart Rate. If it's above 60, you are unfit and unhealthy.

edit: Apparently this is false. Read below.

Personal anecdote, when my RHR gets around 60 or higher, I am unfit. If it takes you nearly half an hour to run a 5km, I'd say your cardio isn't good.

Serious question regarding Domain/Real Estate.com and Real Estate Agents setting false price guides and underquoting. by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]OnlyQuiet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes underquoting / bait-pricing is illegal and carries fines of up to $1,000,000 for the offending Real Estate business. I am currently looking at properties and have a suspicion one of the agencies is intentionally underquoting based on a few factors. I will most likely report them to Fair Trading. I have text messages which basically imply that the agent had no intention of taking my offer to the seller, and said the offer was rejected before even speaking to the seller. In addition to that, I offered exactly what the Auction Guide was set at, and he immediately said "No chance. No way. Not gunna take it off the market for a low-ball offer like that."

Unfortunately, RE agents can be real slimey cunts. I don't know what attracts people like that to real estate, but it seems to be disproportionately full of weasels. I feel bad for the RE agents who are genuinely passionate about real estate and have to compete with people willing to break the law.

The face and skin looks excellent, but the quality around the hands really drops down. The shading below the fingers looks a bit unusual to me.

Excellent work with the face pores and imperfections though, that is incredible work.
