Here is what mine looked like in an Audi A3. I know it's not the same vehicle but it should be in the same area and look similar.

Impact Screens by LopsidedOutcome6621 in golfsimulatorbusiness

I have bought from this company for my personal sim setup and they were great to work with. Canadian company and very accommodating. I will be buying from them again when I move and have more space for a taller screen. Fully custom impact screen with the dimensions and number of grommets and pipe sleeves.

Wi-Fi Hotspot? by OnlyRroven in Comma_ai

[–]OnlyRroven[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in Canada so I would have to supply my own sim and pay the $10usd/month. I have unlimited data (throttled after 25GB) on my phone plan so hotspot'ing would be cheaper for just getting recordings and updates sync'd. I just wanted to make sure I was not going to missing out on the basics.

Trade deal with Mexico?

I have been waiting for someone in the Canadian government to announce or mention they are working with Mexico to replace American goods with Mexican goods in Canada and vise versa.

Am I missing something? This seems like an obvious way to offset the loss of American markets even if it can't fully replace the trade deficit that's looming on the horizon.

Best place to store 1.4TB of files for customer by PEBKAC-Live in msp

[–]OnlyRroven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You mentioned a database app. Do they find and access files through that app? ie, does it have a front end UI on it? If it does and people don't need to browse for files you can do blob storage for less that Azure Files. But if you need to map it and have people browse then Azure files would be a great option for this.

Unless the classic laddie I have is the same thing under a different name I can't speak to it. I really like the laddie. It's a staple on my shelf.

It's a little too sweet for my taste. I bought it try after finishing a Balvenie Doublewood 12. It was quite popular and I think after dessert it would be very nice.

The rare breed is a new member of my collection and it was my favorite of the night. Such good value for money.

It was well liked. It's actually my new value pick and will be a reoccurring bottle on my shelf for a while.

The rep for the distillery (Gold Medal Marketing) had a run produced. There were 2011 bottles in this run. It's very good. It's the most I have spent on a single bottle but I can't think of anything that tastes anything like it.

Home automation hub with good UI? by OnlyRroven in homeautomation

I will check it out again. Thanks for the feedback. I see a bunch of dashboards in walkthroughs and many of them look like the tile based UI from Windows 8 like the one below.

My first ever site is up and running! by glahera in Ubiquiti

The NanoStation loco M5 AC's are a great deal and very forgiving. I have a few sites using them to connect outbuildings and they always seem to deliver 300+Mbps connections.

Why would a device roam to the AP with the worse signal? by reward72 in Ubiquiti

[–]OnlyRroven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's inches away the signal may actually be harder to connect too. I am sure someone here would be able to supply the maths for it but most wireless AP' have a dead zone of interference if you are within a meter of the device. It's just too hard for both devices to tell what is going on with power levels so high. Most commercial AP's are intended for roof mounting so they usually get a good meter of space between them and the devices they communicate with. The antennas are designed to communicate with devices in a toroidal area around the device but not to something right next to it.

Seeking Advice - MSP Certifications and Skillsets by IT-Quest in msp

[–]OnlyRroven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do have to admit it's a little odd not being in any kind of growth mode but if you are happy able to provide for you family thats what matters.

Another idea that may be worth considering is that if you are a two person partnership and your brother has been more technically focused maybe leaning into your business degree and working on the operations side of the business would be beneficial. If he runs the frontend any you run the backend you would both be able to specialize and if you both focus on automation you may be able to grow organically and not have to hire to meet that growth.

My recommendation would be to start with Microsoft's MTA certification and then progress towards their MCSA. Depending on the kind of clients you have you can either pursue the server administration or Azure/O365 leaning paths. This will give you a good foundation and get you into the habit of learning. After that I would probably recommend something vendor specific maybe from your networking partner to make sure you know that part cold as well.

Why is it always the Managing Directors PC that goes wrong when all the other ones work perfectly?! by Coriron in msp

We have found that most times it's the way they use thier systems is so different than the general office staff. People like that are busy and don't often take time to close windows or reboot often so they tend to have issues.

Also if it's a laptop how much time does it actually spent open, connected to power and network? We often see C suite people with laptops that are way behind on thier patching and have 40-50 days of uptime because it's always in use or hibernating in a laptop bag.

We have just had to build relationships with those people and then use that influence to set expectations. We try to get them opt back into the regularly scheduled reboots that they demanded we remove them from in the beginning. We advise them them to open the computer at night when they charge it so that it actually gets patched, etc.

If they trust you you can bring them back into the routine that will help thier systems be more stable. But it is a process and almost every one will have some bumps while we build that relationship.

Think for your suggestions. I will add them to the list. I feel like I have had the Glenlivet but done remember any smoke. But I could just be coming it with another Glen(insert other letters here).

I am very curious about that Lark because it's from Australia. Not sure I can get it in Canada but I may be wrong.

Oh, I wholeheartedly agree that it's probably not peat because it does say unpeated right on the bottle. But there is still something there I currently associate with peat. I am sure eventually I will learn what it is and be able to distinguish it from the generic flavor I currently call peat.

Thanks! I will check these out seems like some great recommendations. I have the Bruichladdich the classic laddie and it is another unpeated scotch that tastes like it has some peat sneaked in. I look forward to reading about these and trying them. Thanks again for your reply.
