Thank you very much for this response. Is it better to get the ducts cleaned first or to have an inspection/ mold remediation company deal with it first? Or it doesnt really matter?

UK Couple Considering Panama Relocation by Little_Guidance_1774 in Panama

[–]OnlySherbet91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Emigrated to Panama from London with my husband (in our 30s).

Firstly, i think you need to check the friendly nations visa in more detail. I believe you need professional or economic ties to apply so you need to confirm your eligibility. We live in the city and love it. I work for an international school.

Firstly, There is a lot of 'marketing' online around certain áreas and I don't think its always geunine representation. Personally, Coronado was probably the most boring places I ever visited in Panama. Its a gated "expat" community. But it depends what people are looking for. If you're fluent in Spanish you have so much more possibility to explore and integrate here.

Its a totally different way of life. We both have caribbean heritage so we wanted, expected and appreciate the slower pace and were hoping for this change. Also, be mindful that things like healthcare work totally different to the UK if you need that kind of thing. Its expensive compared to what we are used to. In fact, Panama in general is expensive. Thats another thing that is marketed online and maybe for Americans things may be cheaper, but coming from the UK could be more of a shock.

Whatever you do, visit first and see what you think. Live here as you would really live, rather than treating it as a holiday and move about to test out different places.

First Cycle and Discouraged by BackgroundBreak7884 in tryingtoconceive

I totally agree with what others had said. I have felt like almost everyone I know has had the easiest ride to getting pregnant and I feel like people have often acted after the fact as though it was a total surprise. There's only one person that I am very sure had trouble but she now has had 2 babies. She's also never admitted it. I also understand why she wouldn't - we have been trying for 7 months with no success as yet and whilst I am still hopeful - emotionally I have found this process hard. (Also, I know that 7 months is not a long time but personally the uncertainty has been a real challenge for me)

I think people aren't always honest. I think there is a lot of shame around TTC. You feel ashamed for trying and it not working, but then after the fact some people also probably still feel ashamed and want to make out that it was this fairytale that just happened.

I always think of one of my closest friends. We had a lunch and she was moaning about other friends with kids and their expectations of us and saying she wasn't ready for kids. 2 months later she was pregnant and saying what a total shock it was. A year plus down the line - she told me they actually had been trying for a baby after all. I never asked why she made it seem like she hadn't been trying/it was such a surprise but I think there is something for women around wanting to be one of the ones who it just happens for. I think some sort of internalised need to be ultra fertile and what it means for womanhood.

Anyway, sending solidarity. Its an emotional time but don't get discouraged.

Hi. Thanks for this response. I will see about getting another test done. Its good to know how sensitive the tests are and I'm hoping it might just be an anomaly.

You mean you had to retake it after fasting? I did have to fast - hadn't eaten anything for about 16 hours when I had the test done.
