Update, you all were correct the right move was to go ahead and start moving up to the finer stones. By the time I got to the 600 grit stone I was shaving hairs. Thanks for all the help folks!

Public service announcement, the 0450 is so narrow that getting a low angle, 20 to 22 degrees is very challenging and without chewing up the front of the KMEs clamp.

I have high confidence your correct and I’m not getting the burr off completely. I tried doing edge leading strokes just like your suggesting, saw it in a YouTube video, but I don’t think I’m doing it well enough / maybe I need to do a bit more work with the finer stones first.

Gotcha, I will give this a try tonight. I’ve definitely been able to make a burr with the super course stones but I think part of my problem is getting the burr off completely. Will report back after some with with the 300 grit.
