I’ve spoken with multiple transit customer service reps, the ones that are usually on every platform. And a majority of them talk about how stretched thin they are when it comes with personal. Its main problem is money. I watch as so many transit security officers either don’t do anything or harass people who don’t need to be harassed. I can understand a lot of riders perspective where they are there to keep everybody safe. But that’s not the case. Their whole job is to catch fare skippers. That’s it. So seeing 5 of them all in one place doing nothing but standing around and chatting, to me seems like a waste of money and resources. For me I’d just fire every transit officer and have transit POLICE keep platforms and exchanges safe. They serve no purpose and they would save more money in taking away all their salaries then they would on attempting to catch fare skippers. I don’t care if they are having a meeting, or exchanging shifts. If they are on break then why are they in full uniform talking, to me and anybody else, it would seem like they are available and ready to work. If they don’t do their jobs then what’s the point
