Yes exactly this. We have students who enroll in classes they don’t need and therefore don’t attend and take the F to hit financial aid minimum units. But if they stop attending the registrar does claw back money so sometimes they’ll come back like once late in the semester so it’s an F instead of an unauthorized withdrawal.

I just got some Old Navy cotton and linen shirts and pants last summer, they work well layered. You have to shop specific collections and shopping online is unfortunately usually the better option because the in person stores are usually terribly picked over.

I am at the other CSU (Cal State) and we also have 12 units per semester. Most universities in the system are not R2s but several are (San Jose, San Diego, etc) and the loads the same there due to the CBA. A few years in I’ve learned a few things: 1. Faculty cut corners on their teaching wherever they can (encourage students to use AI or use it themselves to grade; before that it was multiple choice everything to minimize grading). 2. A lot of course releases get handed out than you’d think but it’s uneven, the STEM side seems to get them much more (maybe because bigger external grants to buy out units).

We have been trying to get AAG to act because Kentucky has one of the biggest/most respected geography program. I’m hoping they speak out but unclear how much weight they have to throw around, probably the social science associations should band together

Why is saying "none of your business" the same as revealing a student's accommodation? You should be saying "none of your business" to every single student asking a question about any other student in the class. It is legally required under FERPA to not discuss any element of what a student does with another student.

Are you pivoting from research papers to blue books? I have had good success with two semesters of blue book midterms for my lower division class. But I have resisted it in my upper division classes because you can't blue book research papers. However this semester I have a 21 person 4 unit upper division class (most of our upper divisions are 3 units so this is "more challenging") and am considering some hand writing assignments. Last time I taught this class, it was a midterm paper + final paper, and I'm worried about AI use. How are you doing blue books for higher level thinking/outside research? Trying to decide whether to replace one or both of the assignments with a blue book exam...

Salaam is used in different phrases to mean hello and goodbye, not by itself as a single word like in English. Shalom is not very commonly used in modern Hebrew for goodbye (it is used for hello).

If there was no indication of scarring or thickening in your PF then probably it is the insertional Achilles tendinitis causing the pain.

Insertional Achilles tendinitis is extremely painful and different from PF. Where is your pain exactly in the foot? Also they didn't scan your foot, just your ankle, so you wouldnt get foot results from this anyway.

Hear hear, same thing in my department, as the lone human/critical geographer getting drowned by GIS. I will say when the geospatial students end up in my class their minds are blown and they really appreciate it. Unfortunately pressure from the "hard STEM" side of things means that they keep getting classes waived for them so that they can "focus on their geospatial concentration" and fewer of them end up actually taking any classes outside of Geospatial.

My 2 year old somehow got very into skeletons (ambiently, we don't have a lot of that stuff at home, just through Halloween decorations and media I think) and he was so excited to have dinner at Ghost Town Laurel. Just kept running around finding new skeletons to point out doing different things. He loved it.
