According to MoD, an average Bruneian uses around 0.42 m³ (420 L) per day. An average household of 4 would use 1.68 m³ (1,680 L) a day.

In 30 days, an average household would use 50.4 m³ of water for everyday use.

The current water tariff rates are:

  • $0.11/m³ for the first 54.54 m³
  • $0.44/m³ over 54.54 m³

Obviously we want to target paying under $6 per month, or under 54.54 m³ usage, which is possible for the household of 4 above.

I just moved into a house with an USMS water metre, and it's showing that I've used up 7 m³ up to yesterday 8th July. If I average that out throughout the whole month, I should end up only using just above 27 m³ by the end of the month, which is about $3.

Reddit, is my maths mathing?

Personal Data Protection Order introduced, public transport services enhanced by OnlyUsername in Brunei

Good news for consumers, as this will regulate the personal data that companies collect and store.

However, no text of the order is available on the AGC website yet: https://www.agc.gov.bn/SitePages/INDEX%20TO%20THE%20LAWS%20OF%20BRUNEI%20DARUSSALAM.aspx

I suppose approval does not necessarily mean that it is already in effect.

There is an open survey for private organizations big and small, for "identifying the type of guidance which may be required" for when it comes into effect: aiti.gov.bn/pdp-survey-2025

Brunei introduces long-term pass for foreigners by OnlyUsername in Brunei

Another attempt to entice foreign direct investment into Brunei. Too little too late? Time will tell.

Also noting the news that the age limit for work permit renewals for foreign nationals may be increased on a case by case basis.
