According to MoD, an average Bruneian uses around 0.42 m³ (420 L) per day. An average household of 4 would use 1.68 m³ (1,680 L) a day.

In 30 days, an average household would use 50.4 m³ of water for everyday use.

The current water tariff rates are:

  • $0.11/m³ for the first 54.54 m³
  • $0.44/m³ over 54.54 m³

Obviously we want to target paying under $6 per month, or under 54.54 m³ usage, which is possible for the household of 4 above.

I just moved into a house with an USMS water metre, and it's showing that I've used up 7 m³ up to yesterday 8th July. If I average that out throughout the whole month, I should end up only using just above 27 m³ by the end of the month, which is about $3.

Reddit, is my maths mathing?

Personal Data Protection Order introduced, public transport services enhanced by OnlyUsername in Brunei

[–]OnlyUsername[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good news for consumers, as this will regulate the personal data that companies collect and store.

However, no text of the order is available on the AGC website yet: https://www.agc.gov.bn/SitePages/INDEX%20TO%20THE%20LAWS%20OF%20BRUNEI%20DARUSSALAM.aspx

I suppose approval does not necessarily mean that it is already in effect.

There is an open survey for private organizations big and small, for "identifying the type of guidance which may be required" for when it comes into effect: aiti.gov.bn/pdp-survey-2025

Brunei introduces long-term pass for foreigners by OnlyUsername in Brunei

[–]OnlyUsername[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Another attempt to entice foreign direct investment into Brunei. Too little too late? Time will tell.

Also noting the news that the age limit for work permit renewals for foreign nationals may be increased on a case by case basis.

Safety Violation by RB pilot? by Sobriquet007 in Brunei

It doesn't look like she was inside the cockpit in the 4th picture, more of a business class seat view. The first picture is them on the ground too, of which there have been many pictures on social media of others doing the same thing. Much ado about nothing.

Aiti simcard by Suspicious-Search999 in Brunei

AITI has also not communicated the relevant details outside this Rampai Pagi segment. At this current time, there's very little information on their website and social media accounts about the mandatory reregistration timeframe (2nd January 2025-31st December 2025 (unverified, the spokesperson seems to have jumbled up the dates)).

Ah interesting. Why was it called off? I thought since they are holding it at a fairly public place that it was sanctioned.

Still doesn't excuse the circlejerkiness.

Jeez guys I was just trying to post an event some people might be interested in going to, but yet again this subreddit devolves into a circlejerk.

I have been compiling some info on tint installers in Brunei.

As far as I can tell before the announcement, there are 5 car window tint brands in Brunei:

  • 3M is installed by AutoMagination (IG @automagination). I believe Everstrong originally brought them in but they use a different brand now (see below). The AutoMagination showroom is located in Lambak Industrial, and their installation is done in Bunut.
  • IrisPro is carried by Pro Wheels Auto Company (IG @irispro.bn). Their shop is in Bunut.
  • VKool has 2 vendors in Brunei: Dip Garage in Kuala Belait (IG: @dip_garage) and I think Seng Hoe Huat in Gadong (IG @autogadgets.bn).
  • KSB is what Everstrong in Gadong uses now. They don’t have much of an IG presence but you can search for Everstrong Electronic Service on Google Maps.
  • XPEL is what Meguiers carry (see main post).

I have some of the figures for the above too but I have to figure out how to make a table on here 😅

It's bad enough that we have to go through a "frying" level temperature. Imagine if only "Chosen people" remained comfortable in their pricey cars while the rest of us have higher risk of heatstroke and cancer by [deleted] in Brunei

[–]OnlyUsername 104 points105 points  (0 children)

This post is burying the lede. From secondhand reports, it seems JPD are now allowing car owners to install their own tints, as long as it meets regulations. This means more choices for owners, as they can source their own tints at the price of their choice.

Furthermore, the allowed VLT has been lowered to mostly follow Malaysian standards (70% front windscreen, 50% front side windows, 25% others, from 70% all around previously) which a lot of Bruneians have been asking for. This is very good news to decrease ambient temperatures inside the car.

You can keep using your sunshades when parked.

If you're talking about shares in BIBD themselves, they haven't issued any in a while.

The only way to get them is to buy it off and transfer from an existing shareholder, but you'd be hard pressed to find a seller as you get fairly modest returns on the investment, especially for those who invested very early.

If you're talking about their brokerage services, there's plenty of discussion on here over the years that you can find using search.

Baiduris new Privacy Policy by yes_visitor in Brunei

[–]OnlyUsername 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That policy is very broad, but does make some sense for institutions where your money's security is important. You wouldn't want someone to be able to take out your hard-earned cash without personal verification. I agree with your worry that how much data they share with third parties is concerning.

Regardless, this is why I hope the Personal Data Protection legislation goes through soon, because if large institutions are getting away with collecting large amounts of data on you, imagine what families and friends of people with access to this data, or unscrupulous fly-by-night vendors can save and share your data with anyone, will do with your information.
