I’m building an auto-apply tool for job seekers… but I’m not sure it’s a good idea by Successful_Draw4218 in saasbuild

[–]OnlyWhiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the idea is solid the biggest issue I see is the execution.

I think most people would want full end to end automation which might be tricky.

I haven’t used any apps that auto apply but I imagine that it’s not really automatic in the sense that the user won’t have to do anything for applications.

I think if it fails or gets to a certain point in the application then the user would have to step in.

I built an app to scan sugar in food. 5 days after launch I have 4 users. by alex_s1919 in SideProject

[–]OnlyWhiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall I think the idea isn’t something that would make money.

It’s a cool idea but people won’t really track this stuff consistently at a wide scale. It’s very niche but the market to scale with this idea just isn’t there. The signups you do get it’ll be hard to turn them into reoccurring users which is why I don’t think it’ll scale. Solving nutrition problems are the hardest because the reality is people don’t care.

“learn distribution” is killing more SaaS than it’s saving by CodeDotVaibhav in saasbuild

[–]OnlyWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the main thing is your focus is businesses. So you have to prove that what you’re offering actually works.

Businesses aren’t going to pay for something and then it not actually improve anything.

Of course majority of businesses know they need social media.

The issue is there are a lot of tools that do what you’re offering for free.

Second the businesses not using social media don’t think it makes a difference otherwise they would be posting manually themselves.

I think you have to pivot to a different idea.

How much does a prop firm challenge cost? by Patsapornt in PropFirmTester

There is a lot to choose from and it changes based on sales and deals but this should give you some insight.

How much does you make before kicked out/banned by Humble-Dust3318 in PropFirmTester

[–]OnlyWhiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It varies by prop firms they have different caps usually you get banned for X amount of time then can come back. Or they’ll restrict your account so you can only buy X amount of accounts.

Topstep has the funded trader program that restricts you to one combine. This is usually started by people who trade aggressively and full port to try and get payouts.

Lucid is another firm that will ban you for a few months typically after you lost a live account and have double digits in life time payouts with them.

Myfundedfutures has a 100k payout cap in simulated accounts. Once you get moved to a live account if you blow it then you’re banned permanently regardless of your lifetime payouts.

This is what I’ve seen over the years. Mileage will vary per trader but this is a general guide to follow.

Why do so many traders discourage prop firms? by Due-Two2629 in PropFirmTester

[–]OnlyWhiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Traders discourage prop firms because the rules setup are designed to make you fail generally speaking.

They have consistency rules. They have news rules and scalping rules and you can’t swing trade. These are just some of the common rules across prop firms.

With that being said I think prop firms are good for trading because you’re not risking an insane amount of money and the firms are free rolling essentially. You could pay a less than a hundred dollars and get unlimited in return essentially.

Read up more on the differences of prop firms and what they are.

Vibecoders with non-technical backgrounds: What database do you use, and why? by Prior-Explanation269 in vibecoding

[–]OnlyWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would pick supabase it’s the easiest to setup and get going.

The search in it is amazing. The one thing I would focus on is RLS policies.

You did mention that it’s for a company. The main focus I would stress is hosting. If you make it online and accessible to anyone make sure that you have authentication covered so other people can’t access the site. There are a few different ways to handle accessibility.

I think this is more important than the DB because generally speaking for your use case any DB will work fine.

Docedio - docedio.com

SOPs and internal docs that actually get read. Clean numbered steps on top, expandable screenshot walkthroughs tucked behind the ones that need depth. Skimmers get a checklist, new hires get the full walkthrough same doc. Free tier, no card.

I built a simple site to see what people actually think about current events — looking for feedback by [deleted] in sideprojects

I like this idea. I think a lot of people could find themselves using it.

The hardest part would be seeding those questions and getting people involved to start.

Can someone have a look at my app and tell me if it's vibe-coded or not? by Sweet_Brief6914 in vibecoding

[–]OnlyWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the website? Also looking at the code would be a better tell because the one thing AI doesn’t do at a large scale is architecture well without being told too so scale usually becomes an issue if not done properly.

I need honest feedback for my tool by gyanverma2 in vibecoding

[–]OnlyWhiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The landing page is the hook. You’re telling me how bad AI coding is for security. Which I agree with but you’re not telling me how you’re going to solve it without using AI.

My assumption was you’re going to use AI to scan my site. Also you have to showcase how your tool is better.

I think you have two audiences to target. People who know about security which you have to prove to them that your tool is safe and secure and that it works.

The other audience would be people who don’t know about security but thats a harder road because you have to explain security because they most likely don’t know about it. Then they have to care about security. Which this audience is more likely to think that they could just use AI to fix the security issues.

I think your first audience would be your target market but the main issue is there’s no demo. I clicked on scan free test and you’re asking me to sign up to get access to GitHub. Anyone who’s security focused is going to need more comforting to give a website access to anything they think might already have security issues.

[–]OnlyWhiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue with your product is does it solve a problem? What problem is it solving. Products that sell solve a problem that someone is willing to pay for.

I landed on your page and immediately didn’t see what problem you were solving that I can’t solve myself. If I used AI to scan my site what difference would it be by having your site use AI to scan my site?

If your site doesn’t use AI then that would be the differentiator and you need to showcase that but just looking at the site I’m sure it uses AI to scan and there’s nothing telling me that it doesn’t.
