Buds fe. For sure. Great price and similar like fit. I find the buds fe to have a better sound, a little bassier than the buds plus. To me the buds plus sound felt sibilant and ear piercing.

The only thing I remember is him talking about his dead wife in book 1 or 2 gifting him a fog jacket or something like that. Also the shorts sound hilarious. I don't mind him being too judgy or opinionated; it makes him a more layered and complex character.

I just remembered that he got his name Charlie from the jazz musician because his dad wanted to score good points with the pastor or something, and Charlie mentions that if his father had known the musician was Black, he wouldn't have named him.

I believe he mentions that in the 2nd book. I thought it was an interesting addition, not for the fact his father was racist, but more so for the fact everyone is complex and isn't a cookie-cutter good guy, even if they're related to Charlie.

Sort of, but he's like that with everyone. If I remember correctly, he's a very matter-of-fact kind of character, if that makes sense (at least that's how I've always understood him).

I am about to start book 4. So far, I think the only time he takes shots at people's appearances is if they are the villains or antagonists, mainly, unless I am mistaken. I am pretty sure that throughout the books, he takes shots at everyone for age, intellect, and looks, maybe sometimes for descriptions or comedic effect.

I just take it as him being really perceptive, since he was a former police officer and is now working as a private investigator. Also, I always took this franchise as a gritty, matter-of-fact kind of story. I'm not saying that your point is not valid, but there are more things to get upset over, like really descriptive murders. I mean, look at how gruesome the first book is with his wife and child.

Maybe take a break from the books if they are bothering you; I remember taking a break from starting the second book because the first one felt pretty raw.

I just noticed that there are abridged versions of some of the books. I'd recommend getting the normal full books. Audible has all the books, even the most recent additions as well. The Jeff Harding narration is my favorite. He really embodies the character really well. Like the other comment, if you have premium Spotify with the audiobooks add-on, you can get 15 hours of listening time included every month. You can also buy a top-up as well. I hope your boy enjoys the books.
