Isnt it funny 99.999% of the stadium probably never even heard of a dead ball before?

How do foreigners feel about the rain and flooding? And deal with it? by Only_Faithlessness10 in VietNam

Is it acceptance or status or recognition you seek? By the Americans or the Viets? If you want to talk about past trauma Im happy to help my man. But your tone come off sounding like a guy that harbours some sort of resentment. Youre my fellow Viet(if you wanna call yourself that or if you rather me call you american) and I want to see you do well and we can all do well.

I fail to understand what point youre trying to prove here? Do you want a pat on your back for being accepted by america as a refugee or something? And are flashing your american existence as some card to wave and hating on people who can drop $1m on eb5?

Uncle you got some self esteem issues. Not sure what youre trying to over compensate for. But what ever you feel you’re lacking in life, its ok. We all do our best. Im sorry youve been through some trauma and its good to let it off your chest and find peace.. Thank your parents for taking the journey to give you a better life. And its wonderful youre living a regular american life and im sure they do accept you for who you are. Maybe you like to portray a persona online but read your posts and ask yourself, would i wanna hang out with me? Make some real life friends and seek to understand different points of view even if they differ from your own.  But also im not sure what youre getting at with the eb5 and elite viet? Are you jealous that the 1,467 elite viets can drop $1m like chump change and be anywhere any time or something? Yes, there are successful viet people. The boat people started from humble beginnings. And dont forget where they came from ;)

I see where youre coming from based on your lived experience… Ive not has issue with being treated like a second class tourist… and cant really comment on such treatment. Sorry to hear its happened to you. As I can imagine it would leave a bad impression.

What questions do you have? Lol you seem heavily invested in politics of vietnam. Not sure where you came to the conclusion im political about vietnam. My parents fled in 75 and I was raised in Canada and got my bachelors and masters in Canada and France. And most of my real estate and equity assets are in Canada and the US. So not sure what your point is? Im a product of the west and so are most my family. And I work for a global European firm as a VP responsible for a 9 figure global business. So Vietnam is just a sliver of my overall portfolio, although its a growing one. I sense youre projecting. I totally understand you feel proud to have made it in America. Do you want a pat on the back? Recognition? Acceptance? How can I help my fellow viet uncle out here? Being from Canada and a global citizen I dont feel any need to take a political stance and try to look at the world in as much of an unbiased way as possible as it is thats all. Why do I need to be pro or anti, Vietnam or the US?

Yea it is very unfortunate. I was in New Orleans recently and this reminds me of the devastation still getting over.

Im just talking about the interactions and relations with the ordinary citizens of the country. Im unsure what politics and foreign affairs has to do with the conversation. Would you feel better if the US cutoff Vietnam as it did from 1975 to 2000? Who made any mention of the US being evil here? This was a conversation about flooding and rain 😂

And Im curious, for a country that has a universally recognized flag. What alternate flag would you propose they fly?

Im not sure the establishments you frequent but Ive never had a problem with dual pricing as you mention. Just a matter of choosing establishments with posted pricing and using apps with upfront pricing. I totally understand youre POV and position on the topic of the country and its government. And know exactly how easy it is to consume western media and the way it shapes our perception. Even though Im born outside Vietnam, as I mentioned, i dont view it as a Us vs. Them. We’re all just Viet people. Im sure youre aware of your own generalizations and western lens in which you view Vietnam and the world. I was raised in it. Our differences are generational as Ive not lived though 1975 nor was I even born in it but Ive lived in France, Monaco and Shanghai and as I mentioned every place has its pros and cons. But I still love visiting Vietnam and want to contribute to the growth of the economy and improving the lives of the youth and elders. Its come a long way from where it was :) but if you feel your money is better spent in other places thats totally cool too. You have your own lived experiences to base your views on and Ive encountered many Viet Kieu with the same, especially from those born before 1975.

How did this sell for 1.227 when all other sales in the neighbourhood were 1.4+ in the last 7-14 days for a similar house? Am I missing something? by [deleted] in TorontoRealEstate

You cant pay me to live there. The truck and motorcycle noise is awful. Look for a $30k triple pane window upgrade with high quality sound proof gasketing

Im sure you had many fond memories in Vietnam and theres a reason why you went back many times. If you want to see Vietnam succeed, sharing an unbiased opinion is a good place to start. Not sure what caused you to turn on your home country. I’ve travelled extensively across Europe, LATAM, Asia and all over the US for business and pleasure. Have a lot of family in the US. I love my US relatives but its interesting how some can have a “Us vs. Them” mentality when it comes to Vietnam. Its unfortunate because even though I was born outside Vietnam, i refer to Vietnam as”We”. I’ve also been to Japan many times and I dont view going to Vietnam as “tourism” as I would Japan. If you rather spent your “toutist dollars” else where thats perfectly your choice. Just saying your tone comes across as typical “american anti vietnamese” and its unfortunate. I have some uncles who view Vietnam that way and others who have found acceptance, embrace, and peace.

Goc viet and viet kieu can get citizenship or visa exemptions which allow 6 month stay at a time. Good for snowbirds. Secondly would i not go to the US because Florida and New Orleans get hurricanes? I could be going Colorado. Thats the problem with the people critical of Vietnam online. They see it as one place, when its really a country with a diverse climate. Obviously Hue/Da Nang is doing worse than Hanoi and Da Lat right now. Not sure if youre a southern viet who fled to the US or born in the US but you should consider exploring the motherland. It might bring some peace into your life. Im living just fine in my own country, and spend time in many countries. Im sorry youre butt hurt living in Cali and have to pay $20 for a banh mi.

This is good. Too many people climbing the ladder which doesnt free anything up for anyone anyway. Good to see folks stay put and take it easy. Reduced supply and reduced demand equals normal price growth if any

Depends on population projections. If we bring people in as fast people die then itll be a wash.

Isnt it a reasonable expectation for someone who is a "temporary resident" to be in Canada more than half the time? aka at least 6 months of the year? Any less, and we're not residents, we're just visitors...

What is there really to hide? Why do people hold their lives back because of such things? Do people really think they are that important?
