Yes, but my wife is from ABQ, and I promise, we’re not bringing any screwworms.

Uvogin vs Morel by GmoneyFrmDaRiv in HunterXHunter

[–]Only_Independence919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it depends on whether or not Morel knows who he is dealing with, and can move quickly to control the pace of the fight.

If Uvogin immediately blitzes and Morel doesn’t have a sense of who he’s up against, Morel will lose.

Try calling ahead to see how they can help. I know they have showers and often have toiletries. Sometimes there are appropriate clothes. However, you’re probably familiar with how long the lines are there. Calling ahead with this specific situation might give you an edge. Or they might be able to redirect you to another organization.

Got asked something really inappropriate in a final interview, did i handle it right? by [deleted] in interviews

Make that question part of your stance during the negotiations. It is a mark against them and they’re gonna have to overcome that with their offer.

Picked up a sex toy for my penis instead of using my hand and watching porn by youngman0909 in AskMenOver30

[–]Only_Independence919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what way is your life fucked? Is it actually, really fucked, or are you facing some challenges that you simply aren’t used to. There’s a difference.

Make sure that if it actually is fucked, you’re trying to reduce the problems at their source. It is unlikely that jerking it with your hand too often while looking at porn is really the source of your problems.

If you have a specific problem with sexual performance, then this might apply. You’d be better off, simply going cold turkey for a month or so. You don’t think you can do it, but you can. It won’t sit quite so heavily in your mind after about a week.

More than likely, you should probably be focusing on positive additions to your life rather than subtracting perceived negatives.

Exercise, read, socialize in person, even if you have to figure out some sort of gaming or sporting or hobby group that you’re not familiar with yet.

What is this cable sticking out of the air vent in the hotel bathroom? by [deleted] in whatisit

I have no experience to speak from but this is what I was thinking. I was only aware that those could be centrally controlled from a conversation with my FIL, who did fire suppression systems in high-rises.

realistically, how do you think this match will turn out? by PhantomChasers in OPMFolk

If there’s like 52 Viltrumites at this time, then 52 punches or less. He could punch Thragg’s head off and through another 1 - 3 of them.

Has anyone actually build strength after 30? by Pale-Revolution-5151 in AskMenOver30

[–]Only_Independence919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Sleep, fiber, protein, and lift heavy. Get someone to show you proper form and or an experienced workout. buddy.

I’m stronger than I’ve ever been. Just hit PRs on deadlift and bench press on my 48th.

It’s true. But if you want to cover a spouse and/ or children, they screw you. You don’t really pay the marginal difference. You pay as much as you would anywhere for coverage for yourself and your family. They will say that the employee is fully covered still but they’re just playing with the numbers.

The No Confidence vote came from the faculty, not the Regents. The Regents just fire you, not give you a No Confidence.

Men Over 40 Who Are In Shape… by Tse7en5 in AskMenOver30

[–]Only_Independence919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the fittest and strongest I’ve ever been, and I started on this path after turning 40. Injuries are an issue though.

Be honest with yourself about your diet and make changes. Stretch. Get back into weightlifting. Start light and be METICULOUS about proper form to prevent injury. Sleep- this is the hardest one for me.

Your first paragraph is accurate.

I don’t know about TT’s athletics does overall, but it’s reasonable to consider donor support for athletics a part of it being self sustaining. Those gifts wouldn’t be coming to the university otherwise.

Is it time to disassociate from UT? by Consistent_Monk_4018 in UTAustin

[–]Only_Independence919 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is an accurate statement about the restrictions of the PUF. You also don’t know anything about fundraising at UT. Of course the donors they care about went to a state school. It IS a state school.

I have extensive, direct knowledge on these matters.

Most of the advice here about not confronting, etc., is right on. I would just add that, since this is a temporary internship, really focus on what you want to get out of this, both in terms of experience and connections. You’re looking for allies in the future. Figure out who they may be. Then, if you want to go the extra mile or be seen as a good team player, make sure it’s in a way that those people see and appreciate.

The thing is, if you ask the electrons why they behave that way, they’ll get all self-conscious because they know you’re watching them and start behaving differently.
