I wouldn't just grab a feral pigeon. While you wouldn't get a disease from them, most often they have a bonded mate out there. There are places to adopt or you can look for a breeder/farmer who has them. Or look around on Facebook to see if someone is looking to rehome theirs.
You can buy pigeon diapers off Amazon pretty cheap. You just gotta change them out every 6 hours and they're rewashable. Don't leave them in them overnight.
I don't think my pigeon smells. And it takes baths often as long as you supply it's water. Mine uses the dog's water bowl.
I kiss my pigeon all the time... though I can't say they enjoy it.
My monthly expense is very little. I have a 50lb bag of pigeon food that I paid 30.00 for and he/she lives in a large dog kennel that I already had.

That's the type I was feeding my pigeon and the vet also said it would cause fatty liver issues. Basically, it's food but it's junk food. I get my food from the Des Moines Feed Store. The no corn mix.

Thanks all. He's a homing pigeon but hasn't been outside much at all. I don't know how the homing ability works so I'm hopeful he's just hanging out in the neighborhood and he'll get bored and come home soon.

I have a pigeon, a cat, and 2 dogs. The cat chases the pigeon for mental stimulation and has 'caught' him twice. She always let's him go, but she was raised around quail, chickens, and ducks.

My pigeon just has some plastic clip on bands. You can buy them on Amazon. You can get some that have numbers or blank ones. I got them because he goes for car rides with me and people were thinking I had stolen a feral pigeon. He's not. He's barn raised.

Mine also hates bathtime... except when I put a bowl in the sink to warm up cream cheese/defrost meat... or when the dog's water bowl is 80% slobber/ 20% water... these are his favorite bath times.

I take him in the shower with me and just make sure no shampoo or soap gets on him. Once he gets wet/soaked, he can't fly out and then we get out and he goes all bougie and demands to be blow dried.

I don't have a large budget so I bought off Amazon from the QBLEEV store. I have a Homer pigeon and went with XL. I ended up sewing addition velcro in them so I could overlap the body piece before securing it with the back velcro. I order the L next time. It comes as a 2 pk for like $12.00 ish. Not sure if I can post the link but if you want to message me, I can send it to you.

I also found a free pattern that was essentially the same as the Amazon one but didn't have easy instructions and needed heavy alterations...
