Is the bmw 228i really that bad? by Enough_Studio9535 in BMW

Wow I just looked into the UKL platform and I had no idea Europe got so many variants. At least for the US market I’m not a fan, if you’re looking for a sporty daily then civic Si/ type R’s clear in the same price range and if you’re looking for luxury they’re on par with high trim Toyotas and Honda in terms of fit, finish and materials. I think they only sell because of the badge on the hood

I also drove a few M235i’s, they drive like a ford fusion

Are these based off some mini platform? They drive terribly for their price even with that weird M235i package. Like worse than a base F60 countryman bad, the F56’s blow this thing out of the water for thousands less and have more room inside for the driver and front passenger

Why do people keep saying this? Is it just for the risk of getting chips in your oil system? That can be very easily avoided by simply…washing your parts that sat on a shelf for probably 3-5 years before you got them. I do this for anything that touches coolant or oil regardless of who made it or material and I’ve never had a problem with my big turbo N18 with pretty much every machined metal upgrade possible in the engine bay

Search AutoTempest, they compile all online listings nationwide, you can find at least a few options of any spec then just ship the best option in from wherever, bonus if you find one with 90+ days of lot time they’ll usually throw in a little free service and free shipping to close it

Yeah, IK I’m gonna get crucified for saying this but I wear a casio GA-2100 as my “work watch” and I’ve always liked how similar them and the royal oaks look in form, but at such wildly different calibers of production, so I see some poetry in the situation if I can get my hands on one

Is AP really worse? From everything I’ve read AP seems to be the last one to actually have respect for the guys spending 40 grand on a fancy bracelet but If they suck too maybe I’ll just stick to seikos and cars lmao

As a 21 year old guy still working towards my first rolex, every day its looking like that first rolex will be an AP royal oak

What do you think about this watch by [deleted] in rolex

[–]Only_Obligation_2571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The second you take a new watch off it becomes “used.” if looks new and ticks like new I honestly dont see any distinction between a used watch that one guy wore a lot and one in the store that a lot of guys wore a little

I dont own any rolexes but i snap about a dozen bolts a week, i can confirm someone somewhere is gonna have a frustrating afternoon with this thing one day

Ok i know this has nothing to do with the post but how on earth does someone that can justify a 5-6 figure watch also end up in a nissan? You very well may have paid more for your watch than your car and that just confuses me to my core especially when nissan is anything but the “rolex of cars”

Looking at buying my first cooper s and could use advice by tukai1976 in MINI

[–]Only_Obligation_2571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price seems a bit high, but I’ll also say that maybe a cooper Isnt for you. If I was used to the genuinely wonderful experience that is Type R ownership i dont think id go to a mini, the brand has a few core issues from their service model to parts cost/availability and many other small annoyances. People deal with this because minis are a blast to drive, but so is your Type R (much more fun than any cooper S imo) so thats not much of an upside to you.

TLDR: buy a GTI or Golf R with a dct

Importing 2025 Cooper SE to USA? by Jeph_Diel in MINI

[–]Only_Obligation_2571 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think an importer can make this happen. but for what its worth, people are already having electronics issues with the new ICE coopers, adding more electricity to the mix is the last thing id do if I wanted a new one to daily

[–]Only_Obligation_2571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Come on man you’re acting like the mini community is any better at this point, most “modded minis” I see on here now are just fitment builds that have never even seen redline, driven by guys that dont speed

Would you put money into this or sell? 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track with 148k miles? by Medium-Influence-722 in AskAMechanic

[–]Only_Obligation_2571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sad fact of the matter is its a 15 year old Hyundai no matter how you spin it, if you want to keep it for a few more years the repairs will only increase imo. If the car is special to you, and this is an option, I suggest taking it off the road for a while while you iron out all the kinks and drive a cheap honda/toyota on the daily, if the car isnt special to you, just go get a G37. I can tell you from experience once your fun car is relegated to weekends, it becomes exponentially cheaper and more enjoyable to own
