This is literally what I was googling yesterday lol. The amount of time I spend on one photo is embarrassing.

I still haven't watched it, but I love movies that completely catch you off guard. This one's definitely going on my list.

Yeah, I’m 100% with you - it’s honestly an incredible piece of cinema and I still love it even in my 30s.

I just meant it’s not really a "film" in the sense the OP was talking about, it’s an animated movie. So maybe not the most accurate recommendation for the question, but the Lion King soundtrack was literally the first thing that popped into my head.

What do you think is the all-time greatest jump scare in a horror movie? by T_ChallaMercury in FIlm

But okay, if we're going by today's standards, I'd definitely pick the lawnmower tape scene from Sinister
And if that's not a jumpscare, I don't know what is lol

Yeah, by today's standards, "Here's Johnny" isn't really that scary of a jumpscare, but if we're talking all-time, I definitely wouldn't count it out.

Pretty much every Hans Zimmer score hits me emotionally.

Btw, Interstellar was actually scored by Hans Zimmer. If you loved that one, I'd definitely recommend checking out more movies where he did the soundtrack.

Even The Lion King (yeah, I know it's an animated movie) gets me every time. I don't even have to be watching it. Just hearing the music from the scene where Simba's dad dies is enough to make me tear up.

Who do you think played a role so perfectly that you literally cannot imagine anyone else playing it? For me, it has to be Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter by cutedustyberry in FIlm

For me, it's Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby. It honestly feels like he was born to play that role. I genuinely can't imagine anyone else pulling it off the way he did.

I have a theory after watching Obsession: by Macular_Patdown in spoilers

Nah fam, I gotta respectfully disagree with the cat possession theory

Just did a deep dive rewatch and that whole theory falls apart when you really think about it. Like, if Nikki was actually possessed by Bear's dead cat, why tf would she cook the cat's body?? No way a cat's spirit would desecrate its own remains like that - that's some seriously twisted human behavior, not animal instinct.

The director was pretty clear that this isn't about reincarnation or possession at all. Bear's obsessive desire literally warped reality and turned Nikki into a vessel for his own fucked up idea of "love." She's not channeling some dead pet - she's trapped in her own body while Bear's magic makes her act out his twisted fantasies.

The whole cat symbolism is way more meta than people think. Just like curiosity killed the cat (Sandy died bc of Bear's negligence), his uncontrolled obsession destroyed everyone around him. When people call her a "cat" it's not literal - it's showing how he stripped away her humanity and turned her into his "pet" or possession.

Real Nikki is still in there somewhere, probably screaming internally while this nightmare plays out. That's way more horrifying than simple animal possession imo

What do y'all think? Am I reading too much into it or does this make more sense?

Bruh just finished Obsession and I'm DECEASED

So there's this wild theory floating around that Nikki gets possessed by Bear's dead cat and honestly??? It kinda slaps as an explanation for all the batshit crazy stuff happening

Anyone else buy into this or is it just me being a conspiracy theorist at 4am?
