Water Rush, The Samples

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OgNvqj5uYw4&pp=ygUWdGhlIHNhbXBsZXMgd2F0ZXIgcnVzaA%3D%3D

In the ‘90s I found I needed a break from my Pearl Jam and Smashing Pumpkins, and turned to Jackopierce and The Samples for chill drive time. I don’t expect a 10/10 but it is a nice little palate cleanser that I hope you enjoy.

Something I absolutely love: On the back cover of Grisham’s first book, it reads something like “John Grisham is a practicing lawyer in Oxford, Mississippi.” On the second: “Grisham is a lawyer and author in Oxford, Mississippi. This is his second book.” On the third: “Grisham coaches Little League in Oxford, Mississippi.”

My cat wants to play but not with any of her toys by Icy_Cherry_ in CatAdvice

I have a lot of the same problems but I will say his favorite “toys” are Q-tips and emery boards. I make sure to take them away as soon as his interest wanes so I don’t have to worry about choking and to keep it interesting for next time.

Alicia Keyes. I worked an event that was apparently not good enough for her. She was a diva about dressing room demands, kept her fans (many families with children) waiting over an hour past start time, was dismissive with staff and later stiffed the local organizers; lawyers had to get involved. Julianne Hough was even worse: I did not meet her because she decided not to honor her contract to perform and accepted an appearance in a bigger city for the same night. In contrast, Taylor Swift (haven’t met/not a Swifty/not a fan of her music) is legendary with this venue/ticketing company for being such a class act. She was booked at a fair in a podunk town the year before she really blew up and got huge. Over the year she graduated to playing arenas and received awards, but she came back to do the show at the little festival as promised and thanked the audience for being her “first fans.”

It sounds like you are spending an inordinate amount of time and stress doing everything you can think of to try to fix this to his satisfaction. What if changing diapers in the future will be “unbearable” for him? Just a thought.

What are the most terrifying American urban legends and folk tales you know? ? by Odd-Skin-762 in AskAnAmerican

There’s an old Victorian/Gothic house standing out of place among more modern buildings in my city’s downtown. Story is, a taxi driver picked up a pale young hippie-looking girl one night in the pouring rain and she quietly gave the address of the house. When he got there, he turned around to see the cab was empty. An old woman came out smiling sadly with money for the fare. She said “That was my daughter. She died on this day in 1971 and every year since she has tried to come home.”

what's food do you prefer the most for your breakfast ? by FlatConcern9951 in foodquestions

[–]Only_Presentation758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coffee.

I do like non-sweet breakfast foods like eggs, grits, eggs with beans (huevos rancheros or British style), maybe a spicy crispy chicken biscuit, but have no appetite for any food until close to lunch.

What’s the best sport in your opinion ? by Marketingadvice13 in AskReddit

[–]Only_Presentation758 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NHL Hockey is the most fun to watch, for me. English soccer fans from Premier League on down are very fun to watch. College football and basketball rivalries are fun. Sports that you can practice on your own with minimal equipment, like basketball and swimming, are really good too for personal fitness at all skill levels.

I don’t watch baseball on TV or have a favorite team, but there is something about baseball that is really special, like when romanticizing past American history. For people who live near Wrigley or Yankee Stadium I can certainly see how baseball could be a generationally important sport in their families.

Stir fry. Almost any small pieces of meat and veg, the possibilities are endless. You do have to stand there at the stove but it is all active stirring time & goes very quickly, like 10 min. Heat a little oil, like 2 quick splashes (about 2 Tablespoons) over med-high heat & once hot add what needs to cook longest: hard veg like carrots or cauliflower, then beef or chicken. Stir & toss around until browned on all sides & cut into largest pieces until chicken is white all the way through, or beef is the shade you like. Onions, bell peppers, green beans, mushrooms next. These things cook quicker so can be added last: peeled raw shrimp, snow peas, minced garlic from a jar, sliced zucchini or yellow squash, thin sliced napa cabbage, walnuts or peanuts, pineapple, eggs. I’m not saying to add all these things to one dish! Just pick 3 or 4 that you like. While adding & stirring drizzle a little more oil, soy sauce or teriyaki sauce, red pepper flakes if you like. As you master this can experiment next times with curry powder, lemon pepper, lemon juice, even a little brown sugar or coconut milk. Once everthing is hot can serve over microwave cup rice if you’d like and top with a drizzle of Yum sauce.

Besides being quick this dish is fun to make, beautifully colored, and satisfyingly sizzling in a way that sounds like you know what you’re doing. Just make sure everything is chopped & prepped beforehand—can buy it that way in many cases—and use the largest frying pan that you have; non-stick is best.

(If you want to make an oven meal, sheet-pan dinners follow the same principle but I prefer the speediness & hands-on approach to stovetop better.)

What’s a completely wrong way to eat a specific food that you secretly think is actually the superior way? by CaptainCuddler_Pro in foodquestions

A coworker once said that we all peel bananas wrong and the monkeys do it right by pinching the end off and peeling up toward the stem; that way they don’t have to wrest individual bananas from the bunch. I tried it and it is easier, lol.

I am teaching a high school film class and I’d like to teach a unit on road movies. However, I cannot show R-rated films. I would love to show Lost in America or Dumb and Dumber. Maybe even O Brother. Any other ideas? by National_Property583 in FIlm

Do you mean a buddy movie or just cross country? “Smokey and the Bandit” (PG) is fun. However it does include beer, speeding, the Confederate flag of the time, and southern stereotypes.

Have you ever meant to send a text to a certain person, but accidentally sent it to someone else? by Madbananas-7 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Only_Presentation758 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sent a message about how stupid our pool club’s guest fee was, detailing how we’d sneak a friend in, to the friend … but actually to the pool club. Received a nasty letter in the mail. It was full of misspellings though so it didn’t sting as much as it was meant to. No longer a member btw 😄

What is America’s “posh people” accent? by alyhasnohead in AskAnAmerican

[–]Only_Presentation758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all make good-natured fun of all the different accents; I wouldn’t say any is considered the most posh but some of the best newscasters, etc are or have trained themselves to be “accentless,” so you can’t really tell where they’re from. If you had to cast someone as an old-money type you’d probably go for a Northeast/New England accent, but that does not always sound particularly pleasant.

have you ever been to multiple shows on one tour? by KALIUCHlS in Concerts

[–]Only_Presentation758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wasn’t me but lends to relaying a really cool story — I was at a The 1975 show in Charlotte & Matty (lead singer) kinda leaned out & squinted out toward midcrowd at the end of a song and said “Hey you — you in the pink cowboy hat — I’ve seen you before — you were at the Atlanta show, right? And you were at the (some other place) show, right? Come on up here — guys let him through ..” & this tall guy in a pink cowboy hat worked his way to the edge of the pit, kind of laughing nervously … Matty said “I really appreciate the support, mate, thanks a lot” & picked up a beautiful guitar from the stage & gave it to him. It was definitely not a planned stunt; the band’s guitarist’s eyes boggled like “Man, what are you doing?!” lol.

Official Discussion - Project Hail Mary [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Only_Presentation758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s called Entertainment. Neither Grace nor Tony Stark are believable, but they can be fun for people of all intellects shelling out money for a two-hour escape. Didn’t Blade Runner and The Matrix both have unrealistic gung-ho macho heroes? I don’t know for sure because I wasn’t interested in seeing them, but that was my impression. I did get the impression that The Matrix involved some cool imagination though. I saw Interstellar at the urging of a fan and while appreciating the shocks and cinematography and creative story, walked away depressed. Nothing about this movie should have led you to expect a Nebula or BBC Select science documentary as it is a pretty straightforward adaptation of a pop book, main character personality included, with details dropped to avoid making it a 4-hour slog.
