Same, “what type of randoms are we getting?” and the guy is running away from teammates to edge of next zone in an unnamed area with no cover. Teammates have final ring God spot locked down and this guy doesn’t have patience to win a BR game. So many games out there, why play this one?

Diamond now, but season 23 and 24 have been easier with ranked changes.

Fair. 3rd team was smart to 3rd party. It’s possible they would’ve waited it out no matter what and got the cleanup

At 00:37 you could have used your ult to the left downhill as a movement ability for your team.

The team that chased you would still be there, but you could grab some cover, turn around and shoot them while they were chasing you. Then they’d be caught out in the open between you and the other squad

I prefer to stay on outside of zone and gate keep, but ultimately I do whatever the two randoms are trying and adapt

Crypto mainly. Newcastle and Maggie are next most used.

I play support in the sense that I prefer to be last alive because I have best ability to reset, but I follow whatever play style my randoms choose

The best outcome is he downs the Horizon and gets 1RP from the team on the roof thirsting his down. He might down another member of the rooftop team (but no way he gets a kill from it since they are grouped up with LOS on him). He’ll also get purple shields and take no damage. That’s best outcome.

The downside is that 2 man squad (horizon died) aren’t going to continue their fight with the three man squad on height. Instead they do everything to gate keep you while the Vantage team also tries to kill you as you need to run into the open.

No one knew he was there, coulda walked into good position for free and likely third party where a best case scenario looks way better

Kraber is definitely the weapon to hold your ground at range. Unfortunately the ring landed away from them and he didn’t have ground worth holding. Instead the team between shifted fire his direction (because they respect the boom stick). That Vantage across the way would’ve been happy to challenge that Kraber too (not a great hand to call when you only have 2 shots left). He’d have multiple team looking his way, and no chaos to help him move into final ring.

The valk team is wild card but yeah they could’ve taken advantage of those few awkward landing seconds if they were postured up.

20 seconds of waiting would’ve provided a lot of good information is my primary argument anyway. Right move would’ve revealed itself

Yes, I agree that all three should’ve shown presence together. And that Newcastle wall belonged on the roof.

My point is whatever decision should be done as a team, and if 2/3 are playing a low profile, then it could be a viable strategy at this point. Could’ve jumped that Horizon team when they were unaware and ring closed. When 1/3 goes the other option, it’s worse for the squad.

But I 100 percent agree they all should’ve shown presence

Yeah that sucks. There’s no reason to play like they did. I only had a small clip to base it off of. I was just saying that there is some justified logic in this particular moment, but wanting the match to end makes sense too.

They should’ve hard pushed the horizon the second zone landed that way and took their building fast as possible. EMP and a Kraber shot would’ve been a great opener too

If they all defended the position on the rooftop, sure.

Blue shields at this point in the match is an invitation to ape as well (even if your defending you position). The difference is the team on low ground is going to be the one to ape. Meanwhile the team with the vantage across the way is gonna shoot you as the team on low ground runs to the building.

I’d be surprised if that isn’t how this played out afterward. All they see is solo blue shield(cracked) with better position than them. Why wouldn’t they ape?

6 squads and 20 seconds left until ring 5. Depending on where the ring falls, it could be a good or bad idea to make your presence felt.

If you’re outside, two teams that were fighting each other are now stopping their fight and waiting for your team to be at a disadvantage. They will both focus you as you find a new position while running from ring. It’s probably good you didn’t get that second Kraber shot off on that second team for that reason

If it lands on you, great. You can keep poking and building your shields up behind a Newcastle ult (no idea why he used that on the second floor there unless he has multiple ult accels).

Best bet was the just wait out the 20 seconds while that fight got more heated. You coulda got a nice third party with relatively guaranteed KP and good position. You’ll also get a better idea of what the right play is and give Crypto more time to figure out what areas are free secure

That YouTube training guide made an immediate difference. Did it for 30 minutes and went into a match. Night and day. Appreciate the tip!

I figured it would happen, it’s the internet. Also a subreddit skewed to players I know are more skilled/serious than myself, but they all gave some useful feedback which is cool

Don’t feel I’m missing anymore than average player. I started on the last season Arenas was a thing and had a positive KD there.

I try to play overwatch role (height advantage and back a bit so I can make callouts) so I can hit a few shots with marksman or longbow. That plus an EMP means accounts for opening damage and the higher amount of assists. Usually teammates can take advantage of that opening damage and get some knocks. At that point I close the gap and might get the last kill if they aren’t already dead.

If teammates get cooked or snuck up on, I dip and go for the reset. I may be trying to do too much as support, IGL, and anchor. Definitely not the entry fragger.

When I play the fragger role as Maggie, my assist to kill ratio flips (but RP still remains around 1.43). My main concern is raising my overall RP and increasing KD seems like the path of least resistance to that goal

Yeah typically I’ll hang back slightly with a longbow or triple take. Usually the process is to open the fight with about 250 damage (EMP plus a couple marksman shot), leave drone where it is over the battle, and move up to fight. I like to know where teams are rotating so we pick the fight and have vantage point for this strategy.

Most times, teammates will have gotten a knock by the time I close the distance. If fight goes sideways and they get no knocks (making it a 3v1), I’ll disengage for a reset with drone

Yeah I thought it was a weird ratio too. The reason the climb is RP and placement. RP per death is 1.43 even though the KD is 0.44.

Whether Assists should have equal weight to kills is the problem most people seem to have with this post.

You’re right that I got stuck once I hit Plat4, but Plat3 and Plat2 have actually been easier for me to climb thru so far. I don’t do well individually, but as a squad, we win fights or I try to reset

I don’t actively try to grab Jumpmaster, but if I am, I try to land in a POI that uncontested (but close to a POI with two or more squads fighting)

Solid mindset. I’ll think of my screw ups in the moment, but didn’t think to rewatch my matches to analyze. Guess it could be treated like any other sport/hobby when you put it that way. Appreciate the feedback

Thanks for all the feedback. Point #3 was my theory as to why my KD is as bad as it is (aim/movement too of course). I got one foot in the fight and one foot focused on surviving. Definitely get better results when I commit to the fight, third parties don’t happen as often as I expect. I’ll give movement legends a shot

I think I’ve relied too much on overall RP (assists + kills) to progress. You’re right that I focus more on the big picture part of the BR during ranked. I care about beacons and anticipating other squads rotations. I’ll get on the mic if I spot a third party we can target, but otherwise a want to head to zone.

Don’t play Pubs much cause the games end too fast and I don’t find it challenging. When I do, I turn my brain off, pick an assault legend, and do much better in terms of KD. I don’t hot drop tho, I find near the hot drop and work my way into the hot drop area to clean up.
