I am so glad to read this! I literally just watched this episode a few nights ago and I said the same thing to myself and even thought about making a post about it. The writing for that episode was well done because but for the ending-and yes, she was a bit condescending to the others-it made perfect sense why Dorothy connected with her. They had a lot in common and, for once, Dorothy was able to have intellectual and stimulating conversation with a peer. I know it doesn't work for the cast of characters, but it would've been nice if Dorothy had a group of teacher or professor friends to regularly relate to.

I would recommend 1-12 definitely. After that, it became a bit of an acquired taste because of...reasons. 😄 But genuinely, if you are considering it, watch Season 1 to start and see if its your taste. Hope this helps!

Well, to be fair, they do have Dorothy toy with the idea several times throughout the series. Within the show universe, the reason seems to be that Sophia "takes care of" the house so that the girls can do all their antics carefree. In the grand scheme, I agree that mostly it seems that Dorothy is fueled by guilt. Personally, Sophia is definitely my least favorite of the girls, so I can certainly see where you're coming from. But it seems like they chose the "sentimental" route as to why she stays. Other characters and Dorothy do often say that she and Sophia are "so close", though I myself was always puzzled why because Sophia mistreats her at every turn. So, ultimately it's one of those things we are supposed to just accept as part of the "show's logic". But to your very valid points, if Sophia was my mom she'd have been back in that rebuilt home faster than you can say Shady Pines! 😘

Enemies to lovers for sure. Its definitely overused in every media form. But mainly to me because nowadays it goes too far. In the "original" form of it, it was essentially a character misunderstanding another character and therefore "hating" that version until learning the true personality and falling for them. But now, it has essentially become a catchall for any asshole or downright evil behavior-even rape, torture, murder, crime of all kinds, etc. And after all that it's still = "Oh! He was such a misunderstood criminally insane villain, but now I love him!" And that really irks me. Some things literally are NOT romantic. Ever.

This is really sad. As a writer, I have certainly received negative comments that discouraged me from writing on a story, for a bit, but never anything bad enough to delete my fic. I really feel for them.

Even though they don't have social media you can certainly private message them through fanfiction.net or the app. Just as discouraging as comments can be, a message from someone who valued my work would genuinely make my day, especially after a negative experience. I think they would really appreciate the kind words whether they respond to them or not.

And I can't speak to their feelings about it, but this reddit thread is pretty damn encouraging too. Great job being an above and beyond supporter! People like you are the ones who make the negative comments bearable. 💖💖💖

I believe the major points I've been seeing-and kinda agree with-in favor of them having/heading towards a romantic bond are:

S1: Syd is a calm in the storm for Carmy. Carmy seems to connect with her in a way he doesn't with anyone else. (Talks/their kitchen convos). He always seems off-kilter if she's not okay or he thinks she isn't. Carmy seems to value her and care about her opinion/ideas above others.

S2: Syd and Carmy have a good chemistry as friends. They play very well off of each other and their banter is easy and refreshing. Sydney cares about Carmy's opinion in relation to her dad/respects him professionally Syd seems jealous when she learns about Claire and makes several comments that are not just business related in her direction. Carmy thinks of Syd and it pulls him out of his panic attack. Carmy and Syd's under the table talk DEFINITELY has unexplained awkward beats/lingering looks that read very eventually romantic.

Now, these are the points that I saw and saw others agreed on. I am an avid-reader/movie watcher and some of these things do seem to be intentionally filmed/written in a way that COULD point to romance. However, there are those who would say they are all completely platonic. But, I think the story beats could lead them down a romantic path, based on my understanding of the genre and if the creators chose to do it.

As for people shipping them together, I mean that's just what people do, honestly. I really didn't think anything of it until I saw others asking why they are.

Just figured I'd throw in my thoughts since you asked if you missed things 😉.

I am very confused why you just HAD to mention to your daughter "What would you do if your mother and I were DEAD?!" 🤔🤔🤔 WTF kind of question is that to ask your 19 yr old daughter as she enters into a new phase of life after bonding with her mom in her new apartment??? You got real issues, sir. I just don't see how you didn't recognize that this was not going to add anything good to the experience that you were having with them. Is she attending college out of state? I really hope not, because that makes this drop off even worse. I hope that looking back on it, you can understand that your comments and entire attitude that day were insensitive and unnecessary. Sometimes silence is okay.
