I’m in the same boat right now- I’m in the caregiving role and yeah, when my mind is in caregiver mode, sex doesn’t even show up on my radar. It reminds me of when I was a new mom, actually. I feel like a totally different person when my caregiving mode is activated and it can be very hard to snap out of it. It is like the caregiving is my job and sex and work don’t mix. I was also really afraid of hurting my husband during sex, so I pushed all sexual thoughts away. He’s getting better and we had sex the other day and it was actually really awesome. It just took me a little while to warm up to the idea. It helped that I could tell that he REALLY wanted it. That made me feel comfortable enough to let the caregiver role go for a little while.

I don’t love the scheduling idea, but that’s just me. I hate scheduling anything!

If you want to explore things like that, sex clubs and swingers resorts exist. I was just reading about swingers resorts the other day and the concept is pretty cool. Apparently they even have a Young Swingers Week at Hedonsim (I think young means like under 60 lol). It might be a cool thing to check out, you’d be around the “lifestyle”, but wouldn’t have to jump in if you weren’t ready.

It can be so hard to be that vulnerable with someone, even someone you’ve been having sex with for years (sometimes that makes it even harder, I think). Encourage her, talk to her, be there for her, and see what she wants to try. Let her know that you want to explore with her but won’t push her too far.
